I'll
take TF2 to break 40%, but I don't want to go much higher than that.
I'm also still taking LoD to beat SF4. Halo 3/Halo should be the last
good match; 2009's proven to suck, but I don't think it sucks THIS much
so much as it is MW2 bombing while the rest were just never supposed to

because
SMS and SA2 aren't that liked. everyone's down on Sonic and SMS is a
disaster in most people's eyes. it's kind of a disgrace that it got
that close considering the popular reception gap between Halo 3 and SMS. SF4 and MVC2 beat weak opponents. let's not get carried away. they did well for themselves but it's not like there's a huge fighting game boom here. they went up against bad games. --- xyzzy |

SMS
I understand since everyone hated that. But NSMBW didn't get much hate,
although it wasn't as critically acclaimed as SMG or the pre-GC era
games. So MvC2's win could well snowball into SF4 beating Uncharted 2. And I don't think I've seen Uncharted 2 on the PS3 top 10 games/boards for a long time. Right now MvC3 is on top 10 games and SSFIV is on top 10 boards. There is definitely a fighting game boom however small it may be, it is certainly enough to push it over Uncharted 2 since it's just a PS3 exclusive. --- lol opinions |

haven't thought much about this, but are there any platformers outside
the four biggest Mario games that are actually, ya know, strong? Is

NSMB Wii fell upon deaf ears. it sold a truckload but not many real gamers cared. SF4 can certainly beat Uncharted 2, but I don't think it's based on some big fighting game boost. it'd be because Uncharted 2 is weak. --- xyzzy |

the most popular non-Mario pure platformer is probably something from Sonic. maaaybe LBP. that's how much of a gap there is. it's Super Metroid if that counts. --- xyzzy |

If
SF4 beats UC2, it'll be a due to a combination of SSF4's release, and
UC2 being a PS3 exclusive. They're still doing the occasional DLC pack
for UC2, but it doesn't have the expansive multiplayer fanbase that

My thoughts on the match pictures: -Fallout 3's looks amazing. Massive props to whoever made it. -TF2 is gonna demolish Batman. -I didn't see the original Uncharted picture, but the new one is freakin' awesome. prediction for Wind Waker? What??! GoW does seem like a series that
would be overestimated - but by *that* much in a non-debatable match
against a Zelda game? That really surprises me. ...would World of Warcraft actually been a bracket favorite maybe against Wind Waker if that match had happened? But yeah, WW>GSC>MM seems weird...I don't think if the difference between MM and WW is big enough for Pokemon to squeeze into. I think GSC either beats both, or loses to MM. Don't forget that Oblivion/MGS3 only made up 40% of the advancing prediction last game contest, when WoW was in the same match. WoW is probably on or even above Halo tier when it comes to brackets so I wouldn't be surprised if it was the favourite. The game got 92%, in a 58/42 match. I knew it was going to be high (my prediction was 83% iirc), but this is crazy. Match LXIII: (7) Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door vs. (10) Gears of War Information Name: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Year: 2004 Previous Performance: N/A Name: Gears of War Year: 2006 Previous Performance: SpC2k9 – 4th in round 1 Analysis Despite this match getting some hype almost everyone is siding with the same game. While Gears of War does have a chance at winning this match Paper Mario is by far the safe choice. Kind of weird with the way Mario has been performing in this contest, but it isn’t like Gears of War is giving off any strength vibes. Personally I would take this Paper Mario game over the original, but a lot of people seem to disagree. At least most people agree that the two games would be close. This puts Paper Mario: TTYD in a good position since while Paper Mario did perform slightly worse on Kingdom Hearts than Gears of War did on Resident Evil 4 Metroid Prime was in the match handing out LFF. It does seem Paper Mario is stronger this contest due to its massive win over Katamari Damacy, but that could be due to Katamari Damacy being a weak game. Gears of War performed terribly in the last contest and it could be even weaker this contest. However people using Gears of War 2’s performance as proof are in the wrong. Gears of War 2 was one of those games that came and went, it’s no surprise that the game would be significantly weaker than the original. Gears of War does have a small window in where if all the planets line up it could pull off the upset. Mario games have not looked that great this contest though it does help TTYD’s case that the original was the only Mario game to look decent. AC1 sold like twice as much. you made the DMC2->3 comparison but AC2 suffers from the same thing, just on a lesser level. Batman over AC2 is based on 2009 GOTY. --- xyzzy |
