I'm intrigued to see how well GoW2 does in a few hours. AC got 36.51% on MGS4, so GoW2 breaking 40% on LoZ:WW shouldn't be that big of a big shocker if it happens. It depends on how GoW2 compares to AC and how much SSBM actually SFF'd LoZ:WW.

Main difference is that Resident Evil 5 and Metroid Fusion have looked decent while Gears of War 2, The Sims and Castlevania: DoS were all crushed.

Analysis

This match is a bit difficult in the way of how much Wind Waker is going to win by. Before the contest I had an idea of where God of War II would rank, but now numbers are suggesting that the match will finish in a different way, but those numbers aren’t very reliable.

This is the first match since 2004 where Wind Waker is not faced by SFF. Some people argued that Wind Waker may have not been SFF since it’s impossible to SFF a Zelda game. I disagree, we’ve seen both Zelda and Ganondorf suffering from SFF from other Nintendo characters in four-ways plus Melee was the Gamecube game as far as GameFAQs is concerned.

The most recent God of War II poll that we had was the vote-in where it very clearly won over Resident Evil 5 and Metroid Fusion. Since then those two games went and had very decent performances of their own. It was so good that it suggests that the sequel is stronger than the original which to me is very surprising to hear. Of course it is possible that Tales of Symphonia and Pokemon DPP are weak in this contest.

While I feel that Wind Waker is significantly stronger than what its match against Melee suggested I still think God of War II has a great chance at breaking 40%. Even if the vote-in was overrating it a bit Wind Waker is not going to cruise the match to large blowout either. I predict that some people are going to take Wind Waker’s win a bit too seriously and think that it’s a weaker game like people have been doing with the Metal Gear Solid games.

The fact that people still think G/S/C has a chance on Majora after this crapfest is hilarious to me. Aside from Majora having the superior round 1 performance, their match will be a night match, which is definitely bad news for the kiddie-centric Pokemon series.

Looking ahead a little, Arkham Asylum is definitely beating Team Fortress 2, right? I had a lot of confidence in AA pre-contest, but I don't really have as much anymore, for whatever reason. Although TF2 didn't exactly put on an inspiring performance in Round 1.

WW stomping would fly in the face of a lot of what we've seen so far. It's possible, but I think the opposite is more likely.

I'm thinking Wind Waker is on the "cool to love what was so hated" bandwagon like Pokemon.

Also the "Wahhh everyone hates my game it's so underrated" fanbase like FFIX.

WW wins almost certainly, but some of the figures people are floating around are crazy.
