Analysis

Assassin’s Creed was arguably the strongest game that was part of the vote-in yet sadly it’s up against the strongest 3 seed of the contest. Had it been up against Uncharted 2 I think a lot of people would have gone with the upset. Metal Gear Solid 4 is trying to stake a claim that it is the strongest Metal Gear Solid game in the contest and as the favourite to do so it now has to prove that it can win the division and possibly more.

In the vote-in Assassin’s Creed was able to easily win over its competition though the only half decent game there was Devil May Cry and that game only put decent numbers against its opponent because it was a night match. With that in mind Star Wars: KotOR should be able to win over Assassin’s Creed quite easily which means you can only imagine what Metal Gear Solid 4 is going to do.

There was some talk that Metal Gear Solid 4 may be weaker since it isn’t as associated with being the game of the Playstation 3 due to the system being more diverse on GameFAQs. While I don’t really believe it to be true if it was I would think that the increase of the number of Playstation 3 owners would bump Metal Gear Solid 4 back to where it use to stand.

While the board isn’t exactly satisfied with the performance of Playstation 3 exclusive games if there was one game that would buck the trend it would be Metal Gear Solid 4. I feel that a doubling is very possible and breaking 70% would be a strong statement that it could not only be the strongest Metal Gear Solid game in the contest, but it could reach the semi-finals.

I think some people were a bit worried about this match but it doesn't seem like very many people acted on it. Nobody in the top 143 sided with Animal Crossing. All the way down to the -17s managed to stay above 90 and the prediction percentage fades from there.

No one fell out of the Top 50.

Assassin's Creed was a good game. It had its issues, but the foundation was solid and it had a lot more good ideas than it did bad. I haven't played AC2 yet, but AC1 is one of the big notable releases of the gen for me. Definitely should do better than this on MGS4 of all games, but all things considered, good stuff.

I think a few people might sound the alarms after Diablo ravages its match in the morning. I took a peak at the Oracle and have no idea why people think Eternal Darkness can hit the mid-30s. It's a third party ultra-cult survival horror GameCube game with no series name and zero GameFAQs exposure in eight years.

Eternal Darkness is going to be a big step below SH2, which Vice City 63d, which Diablo II would beat pretty easily. So yeah. I'll consider 30% a moral victory.

Complete opposite for me. AC1 pissed me off to no end. I beat it but only because I started the game and I felt I had to actually finish it. But it left me a sour taste of "how the **** did they waste so much potential".
AC2, I loved it. Platinum trophy love it. They fixed every major issue I had with the original.

As for MGS4, great game. And MGS4 vs AC. Well, AC is no pushover so for me, it simply shows the strength of MGS4. It wouldn't put those kind of numbers on AC2 however. I predicted just short of doubling AC actually. And it turns out I could be a few percent off. Good thing I've got MGS4 penciled pretty deep

AC2 is a brilliant, fantastic game. AC was extremely mediocre in every definition of the word, but I still love it for being so innovative and setting up the foundation for AC2. ZFS you need to play it.

Still, I expected MGS4 to demolish AC. Is AC getting strength from AC2 here, or is AC just this strong on its own, or (god forbid) is MGS4 just weak enough to lose to MGS3? Probably just multi-platform exposure boost.

I'm thinking MGS4 will gain a greater lead in the coming hours.

Both MGS games have underperformed slightly relative to my expectations, so it's a wash. HOWEVER, I can use this as good debate fodder once Majora's Mask rolls out the 90% carpets in a couple days!
