...In a hype poll against possibly the most hyped game of all time (it'd be competing with what, Brawl, Halo 3 and FF8 and that's about it?), 40% is ridiculously impressive.

That chart is very interesting, because it shows a weird drop between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM (when the times are converted from CST to EST). This weird drop also occurs in the continent poll trend chart where North America drops off in the 12:00-1:00 PM hour (78.62% to a 75.77% hour) before recovering in the next hour.

My guess is that people are having lunch.

It is when GTAIV was hyped like crazy and was actually pretty close to MGS4 at the Game of the first six months poll.

40% on GTAIV is more than enough to take down a PW game. I mean right now your looking at a weaker yet similar game to Mario Kart Wii being ahead against a game unquestionably stronger than PW. How you can draw PW > MK:Wii from that I don't know. At best it might keep it a respectable 55/45 kind of thing.

It was still pretty strong, two polls two months after its release, one with it beating MGS4 the other one barely losing to MGS4

At the risk of sounding like Ulti pre-Fire Emblem/No Mercy, I'm one of the biggest Phoenix Wright fanboys on this board and there's no way it beats Mario Kart Wii. Looks respectable, very probably yes; beats, almost definitely no.

Anyway, despite the blue shells, MKW's not that far behind SMK for third place in the series for me. I still haven't played MKDS though. It's an enjoyable game; it's just that there's a lot of BS, too..like much of the series.

Yes because everyone knows people eat for 3 hours long during lunch. I'm guessing dinner is 5 hours long?

Most people tend to have lunch around 12:00-1:00 PM, where as I'm thinking there's a lot more inconsistency as to when people have dinner. Like, I have dinner around 6:00 PM, but some people could have it up to 2 or 3 hours earlier than that or even having dinner closer to 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM.

MGS3 sucked, NSMBWii might lose... man, I hate this division already!

It's a bloody shame how many people aren't willing to give NSMB a chance. Granted, I can't necessarily blame them - it didn't look promising at all prior to release, and the DS original was rubbish. In all honesty, though, it's actually one of my top three favorite Mario games; I think the level designs are fantastic, and the multiplayer is a blast.

Ryu/Dante was awesome, you can pinpoint when the next Ryu spike would be based on intermissions. It was even funnier to see Dante spike right after USA made it 2-1 giving the Americans hope and more reason to watch it.

Didn't we have a similiar thing happen with Kratos/Sackboy during the super bowl? Not to the same extent but I remember Sackboy doing a lot better when it was half time during the super bowl or commercials
