I think it's mainly Street Fighter that they love. If you look at Soul Calibur, it gets 16.49% in the US, but only 14.10% in California.

Just a temporary bump. Does anybody honestly think Mario has a chance here? With all the experience and data we have now there is absolutely no argument for Mario. It's losing the US by a decent margin, but getting destroyed in Cali. As Europe's influence falls and Cali's goes up this will get ugly. And I'm saying this as somebody who likes NSMB more than MvC2 and has NSMB in my bracket. I wised up and switched by battle to MvC2 last night though.

The continent poll trend chart shows that North America starts to recover near the end of the 7:00-8:00 AM hour and slowly recovers over the course of about 4 hours before staying fairly constant until about 7:00 PM when North America's influence begins to increase even more due to Europe going to sleep.

MvC2 is coming back; it doesn't matter whether it was MvC2 going up or Mario going down. Actually, it's far more likely that it would be Mario falling off, as votals are always highest near the beginning of the poll, and even in 24-hour weekend matches, votals are very high around noon, dropping off thereafter.

Although it shouldn't be attributed to California waking up, yes. People in California are not all waking up from 10:10 to 10:30- some have up for hours, others are still asleep, it's not that sudden a thing. California will ultimately make its influence felt upon this match not when it's pulling in the most votes (that would be right around now), but when other places have gone to sleep.

Mario Kart Wii is stronger than New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Super Mario Sunshine. Never at any time have I thought MK Wii would lose to NSMB Wii. Phoenix Wright will not beat MK Wii. Of course, it COULD happen because my opinions could be wrong. =p

Come on, MvC2. Don't let Mario get a 300-vote lead.

Hype Phoenix up all you like you'd be ignoring the blindingly obvious that I've been saying for weeks. MvC2 is reasonably popular, NSMBW is relatively disliked or not cared about. This isn't some sort of anti-Mario thing, this is just a **** Mario game getting its due.

I am tempted to switch to phoenix. What the night matches have told us is "hey, we vote at night, we like our games hardcore and awesome." Mario Kart is a very established brand though, and I would have to be very sick to pick phoenix if my streak is still intact. But everything, in my eyes, trends towards a phoenix victory it just is a matter if I have the balls to go ahead and do it.

Phoenix Wright is the same guy who almost beat Jecht, people know Jecht. Mario Kart has always been an overrated series on this site in terms of polling, and in a night match, as the seeding favorite, it is possible phoenix will onlyneed 18k votes to win.

Mario Kart Wii definitely has the advantage, but I'm not seeing where the respect is coming from. All I ever hear about the game is how unbalanced it is and how much everyone hates blue shells.

That chart is very interesting, because it shows a weird drop between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM (when the times are converted from CST to EST). This weird drop also occurs in the continent poll trend chart where North America drops off in the 12:00-1:00 PM hour (78.62% to a 75.77% hour) before recovering in the next hour.
