Analysis

This is expected to be one of the bigger blowouts of the contest. Metal Gear Solid 3 showed that it was one of the strongest games from this decade last contest while people are expecting TimeSplitters 2 to be one of the weakest. People have been hyping for the fight between the third and fourth game of the series and with the third game considered the underdog a good performance here may be able to change some heads.

TimeSplitters 2 seems to have a small following and even then they were barely able to get the game past the vote-in and into this contest. In any poll the game or even the series has never looked good and even if we ignore polls common sense would suggest that Metal Gear Solid 3, a popular game should crush the relatively unknown game.

Given where some of the games that finished around it performed Metal Gear Solid 3 should be able to crack 80% in this match. If it doesn’t it won’t be the end of the world, but like I said it needs a good showing here to make it look good enough to take on Metal Gear Solid 4 in the division finals.

On another note, I thought Time Splitters was that rails arcade shooter called Time Crisis until I just looked it up.

I never heard of Time Splitters.

TimeSplitters 2 had one of the best multiplayer on the PS2, great game. I would love to see it do well here (like break 25% >_< )

ME2 boosting the original significantly was kind of a pipe dream anyway. It may add a few new players, but it wasn't going to boost Mass Effect significantly.

Also, I've been missing out the past several days due to work. Nothing too exciting, I guess.

What happens in the top half of the bracket:

Gordon Freeman enters Liberty City, ready to take on the legendary thug "Gause" (sorry don't remember spelling), and he easily emerges victorious, even cutting off Gause's head using the gravity gun to pick up a saw blade. He is then magically transported to a Greek ruin where he gets surprised by Kratos, who seems like he could legitimately win until Freeman gets support from some friends, who all help him defeat Kratos by the skin of his teeth. Freeman then gets to fight either a powerful goddess or a powerful cybernetic lady, but makes it out without help from his friends. He then invites his friends over to participate in the challenge of "surviving the nuclear apocalypse", which he then succeeds in. They all then get bowled over by the Nintendo all-star cast.

Translation: Half-Life 2 easily beats GTAIII, has a TF2/Fable-style affair with God of War, kills Prime/Okami in ho-hum fashion, takes advantage of the night match to oust Fallout 3, then breaks 40% on SSBM.

I said generation, as in a generation of consoles. Chrono Trigger for 16 bit, FF7 for 32 bit, FFX for last generation, and Fallout 3 for this generation.

I'm not sold on Fallout 3 > FFXIII either. FFXII wasn't far behind Half-Life 2, and FFXIII should be far ahead of it. I'd probably pick Fallout 3 but wouldn't be confident in it.
