Next update I predict that DR will take another 12 votes off TWEWY's lead.

Well, it's a night match... so as long as Europe's TWEWY vote doesn't tank too much farther, it's on its way to developing a solid lead by the time the morning vote comes around.
NoDicePwn | Posted 11/9/2010 9:32:35 PM | message detail
Is it weird that for a match this close with several cuts already, I don't feel worried at all about TWEWY losing? Its got all of the trends in its favor, so I'm just like "Meh" when cuts happen.

That's not true, because of this:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=3680

The first option and last option were almost tied. There's no telling if that holds true in contest matches.

Wow, okay, pretend nobody argued Braid had a chance, go ahead.

Trust me, if I could have argued for it, I would have...but I couldn't. Its best evidence is that MM9 won a match, which really doesn't mean much considering MM9 tripled it in 2008 and it's not like DS is worth a damn here. I took No Mercy > FE:PoR, but I can't bet on Braid winning despite liking it more and fearing P4 less. Braid's unfortunately yet almost certainly a bottom-ten game on GameFAQs.

Top option is ONLY applicable to fodder vs fodder matches were the vast majority of the voters have no idea what either game is.
Greyfeld | Posted 11/9/2010 9:37:51 PM | message detail
doubtful. Dead Rising is too casual for people to love it or hate it like TF2 or Fable, and TWEWY is beloved but has a very very small playerbase.

I doubt the top option always gets 5%. Every POTD on this shows the numbers as much lower. Plus Agent J was the top option and he got <5% of the vote. And and least half of his votes were legitimate votes as well, I'd imagine.

This match has the potential to be the closest wire-to-wire match because although Dead Rising is coming back because of the US, the late night vote will help out TWEWY as the US's influence drops off and TWEWY uses the other regions to stall Dead Rising.

Probably because the rest of North America waking up around 6-10 AM could wreck everything for TWEWY. Kind of like how Pokemon got a huge day boost when ASV vote reported in.

To come down to the "top option" effect, you'd have to first go through the games themselves, then the franchise, then the company, then the genre, then the match pics. The chances of somebody being completely unable to choose between two games after all those considerations, are slim to none, and even the poll shows that the second most chosen option is the bottom one, which means that minuscule percentage (I would guess EASILY under 1%) is split about 60-40 between top and bottom choices.

Which basically means no, "top option factor" is not important.
