SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote. This is the best example of SFF we've ever seen. However take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make perfect sense.

Extrapolated Standings - The mathematical "strength" of a contestant that's determined based on their performance relative to the rest of the field. This number is typically based on the contest entrant's loss, but adjustments are sometimes made. See above for a watered down explanation for how the stats are calculated.

Noble Nine - Link, Cloud, Solid Snake, Sephiroth, Mario, Crono, Sonic, Samus and Mega Man.

By the very definition of favorite, it is the huge favorite, not even a clear favorite. Favorite means consensus expectations. Your own personal expectations may vary. There's no doubt that Halo will the the favorite there. Whether that means it wins is a different story.

I think just general "GameFAQs likes the 360 a lot more than it ever liked the original XBox" stuff. I don't really know what the standard hierarchy on Halo games is, so don't ask me on that.

It's kinda similar to the Brawl arguments, actually, which is why a Halo 3 win will be a huge boon to Brawl backers.

There are far too many people that think the first is the best in every series for Halo 3 and KH2 to win. Halo 3 and KH2 didn't do a huge jump like GTA2 to GTA3. So the first will always remain the best in the eyes of the fans.

KH2 actually has a shot though. KH vs. KH2 is very tough to call because there's no clear favorite among the fanbase. Most people are like me and pick KH1 solely because it's the original. But KH2 winning wouldn't be shocking because both games are indirectly of pretty much equal strength, it seems, and also about equally liked among the fanbase. The logic favoring KH isn't super-strong.

Halo 3 winning would be shocking. I'd be mildly surprised if it even breaks 40%. It will get SFFed badly. It is the weaker game indirectly, and clearly lower on the franchise hierarchy.

I don't think KH/KH2 and Halo/Halo 3 is a good comparison.

KH2 is the only recent game I took in the big four same-series matches. I just think it's a different situation with Kingdom Hearts because it's the only one where both games are on the same console, so you're going to have less of a fanbase fracture. It kinda makes sense, as we don't really see many instances of fans arguing that KH1/2 sucks and KH1/2 is so much greater. Fans like both games, but there was a general sense that KH2 improved much of the formula when it came out, so I went with that one. Also, there's a heavier Square focus as opposed to KH's heavier Disney focus, so I figured that would also help KH2 more on GameFAQs.

I'm still going back and forth about SoA/BG2.

I've been backing BG2 for days now, especially after running some numbers, but I'm afraid that I'm overanalyzing.

Tbh, I have BG2 in my bracket as well, so it's a pick that I've had from the beginning.

I'm not sure there is an "Xbox Hierarchy". Keep in mind the reason Halo and CoD keeps selling is because people love those franchises; they'll jump onto whatever the latest game in the series is. Halo may have made a bigger impact, but more people have played Halo 3, and it's still played online.

Okay, as a HUGE KH fan, I can't understand how KH/KH2 is debated. Some people in the fanbase really like two and some put as the worse game in the series. EVERYONE loves the first one. Also, non-hardcore fans easily prefer the first one.

And this is coming from someone whose favorite PS2 game is probablyKH2. I was even gonna speedrun that ish for a while...

You know what, screw it. I'll testicle bet on this one. I got KH. Anyone got KH2?

KH/KH2 is the ultimate coinflip match. People can talk about TWEWY/DR being a coinflip all we want, it is pretty much impossible to predict KH/KH2.

I sided with KH1 because I feel like I've heard more complaining about the 2nd one than I did about the 1st one, but who knows if that's accurate or not. A lot of people feel like the plot really went off the deep end in KHII, from what I've heard, too.

I dunno. I prefer KH2 and hope it wins, but there's really no telling how that one goes.
