I think BBS is gonna be the anomaly of all popular psp games, though.
It'll prove that having a great reception will still make you popular even on the psp, where others like Dissidia and Crisis Core have/will fail.

FAQs by pure numbers are a bad way to judge cross-genre, I only pulled up persona/civ because all of the recent persona games were beating civ 5, which made me change my battle pick <_<

Chrono Cross won't have any problems with DQ8. FFIX was the absolute worst opponent for it to have in that match, as the games were released right next to each other. It might not seem that popular these days after some vocal Chrono fans have trashed it, but the game was huge back then. Rivaling FFIX in both popularity and GotY talk.

Well, we're talking mainline games.

And I can't believe people think Cloud would beat FFVII. I mean, not that character vs. games comparisons are very valid in the first place, but come on. Cloud is not bigger than FFVII. The only FF lead in a mainline game who would have a shot is Squall.

Oh, and TWEWY is probably bigger than Neku. A lot of people don't like Neku because he's a pretty big jerk for a large portion of the game.

Civ IV's rockin' this morning vote pretty hard, too.

I thought that, it gaining 0.05 every update. It's not rocking anything though, the leads staying pretty much exactly the same. It's maybe gaining 1 vote an update. The votals going up but they are getting pretty much the same amount of votes.

Now this is entertainment!

I said last night before going to bed that we would see where things were when I got up around 8:00. Well, it's 8 now and...dammit! I guess I gotta wave the white flag on this one. Completely not the result I expected. I knew it would be tight, but 7% difference isn't tight enough. That's like Persona consistently getting 8 votes to Civ's 7. Civ might bounce back some since we still have a third of the poll left, but 1500 votes is pretty insurmountable. I was hoping to see maybe 300 tops when I got up. I guess I can consider myself eliminated from the battle bracket at this point.

Oh well. Thank you for hanging tall, Wyoming.

Given that it was never released in Europe or Australia, and I'd imagine DQ is king in Asia it'd take some doing for it to overcome that kind of deficit, I mean Europe and Australia alone are 20% of the voters. I'd reckon CC would need 65% or so of the share from North America to pull a majority, does anyone think it's "that" popular?

Analysis

One Phoenix Wright game getting crushed wasn’t enough for fans so now it has two Phoenix Wright games. Final Fantasy IX may be a tier below the top games, but it finished with a decent score and it should cruise this half division before running into its younger brother.

Phoenix Wright was barely able to reach the bracket, winning a close match against Left 4 Dead 2 and we all know what happened to that game. I’m also fairly certain that this game will be much weaker than the original and given its performance last contest that can’t mean good things.

Final Fantasy IX didn’t really have much of a chance to shine last contest as it ran into Final Fantasy VIII in the second round, but it was able to easily defeat Half-Life and it held well against Ocarina of Time. While the game is going to get SFF to death at the division finals it does have three rounds of it looking good, crushing two fodder games and a decent game.

Final Fantasy XII was able to win quite easy over Phoenix Wright which makes me believe that Final Fantasy IX has a great chance at breaking 70% over this Phoenix Wright game. I know the board loves the series, but does the series really need two representatives getting crushed?
