Other M breaking 60% on Civ4 would be incredibly god awful stupid...you get the point.

Other M vs. Company of Heroes, who do you pick? Because if I hear that Other M would win that I'm going to get quite angry. How about vs. Counter-Strike or Rome: Total War? Hopefully Team Fortress 2 would still kill it like it should.

Halo: Reach might be fodder by then.
Other M might not make the cut depending on Metroid's releases during the next decade.
FFXIII is sure to be in it and probably kick some ass.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 should be a classic by then.
Black/White might do ok.
And here's hoping Skyward Sword and Smash Bros. 4 are a lock to the finals!

I could care less for Other M. I honestly think the game may be a LITTLE underrated but I've been hearing some people saying that it's their favorite singleplayer Wii game, or that one guy who said it's better than Mario Galaxy 2 and Ocarina of Time. Those are awful, awful opinions. Other M got the reception it deserved with the exception of its most negative reviews. I shudder at the thought of replaying it, which I basically will do to transition into Half-Life 2 in the future.

Is SMG2 really that awesome?

I've got SMG1 but only played it for about half an hour (just don't find myself getting into games anymore, although i will go through it soon). I enjoyed it for that period but stopped for whatever reason.

A mate told me it's good but too much of the same. I don't see how that can be a bad thing. It certainly doesn't have the "must-buy" aura around it and even though i haven't played it it seems like it's looked on as more of an expansion because it came out so soon.

FFXIII won't be that strong, maybe comparable to what FFIX is today, but I'd sooner expect it to be weaker.
I doubt anyone will remember to nominate Galaxy 2 by 2020, and it sure as hell won't be "a classic".
Pokemon BWG (Black/White/Grey) will probably be around DPP.
Zelda and Smash dominating seems very likely so that will probably be the case. Unless Another more popular Zelda game comes after SS.

How is 2007-2010 soon?

Galaxy 2 probably won't change people's minds about 1, but for some reason it does everything so much better I'd feel hard pressed to every replay Galaxy 1 over 2.

Diablo 3 will be a lock to the finals in the next GotD contest.

People really need to stop with this whole "Europe has game X with 60%, it will win the night"-BS at the start of a night match. It's 5AM/6AM for most voters in Europe. The number of votes from Europe this early is not nearly enough to make any decisive claims on how the rest of the match will turn out in Europe.

I agree. Since many people are in the EST or CST timezones, they might not want to stay up until like 2:00 or 3:00 AM to get a better idea of which game gets the night vote. So I can see why many people would want to predict night vote trends before the first hour ends.

Looks like Persona wins it, it's killing in Europe for some reason, and overnight trends are more predictable due to geolocation (whereas day trends typically are not).

I don't like calling night match trends very early in the match because there are so few votes from Europe. I would wait until at least 2:00 AM before I consider calling night vote trends based on how Europe is doing. 3:00 AM is when I can feel more confident in making a very accurate prediction on the night vote based on Europe. Europe really starts to pick up steam after 3:00 AM by looking at my continent poll trend chart.

The gap should narrow, but Persona is still going to dominate Europe.

People always over-analyze geolocation when it comes to predicting day match trends. Geolocation just isn't very good for that. For night matches however, they give you a pretty good idea of how the overnight vote will unfold.

Europe in a night match should definitely be feared because they can hog up 40% of the votes for 3 whole hours (from the continent poll trend chart). Day matches are hard to predict trends because Europe has far less influence (along with Asia and Oceania). Not to mention that the early vote in North America could favor one game while the North American ASV can switch around and favor the other game (Pokemon RSE/GTA IV is a good example of this).

Galaxy 2 is not a mere expansion. It introduces new gameplay elements and has arguably better level design, not to mention the game's map system is a lot less confusing than Galaxy's Comet Observatory and...some other things.

Man so many games I've got to play through. I only played through the main quest earlier because I wanted to get onto other games.

I'm leaning toward MvC2 there. Capcom's been doing well this contest if you ignore the Devil May Cry games, and MvC2 seems to have a decent following. NSMBWii doesn't seem to have much strength, and Sunshine demonstrated that people won't vote for a game just because it's Mario. Granted, MvC2 is probably weaker than Halo 3, but I'd also waged NSMBWii is weaker than Sunshine.

It's a pretty iffy match, but I think MvC2 will be the stronger name of the two. Nobody on GameFAQs cares about NSMBWii (even though they should, awesome 2D platformer).

I have DR winning that 4-pack in my bracket, but after seeing P3/Civ4, RB2/DX, ToS/RE5, and GS/UYA, I'm starting to think that it would be smart to change my battle picks to P4 > TWEWY > DR.

I'm thinking Mario game > Fighting game on that one. No other reasoning.

When I checked the US map slightly before it updated at 7:00 AM, it was mainly the Midwest states supporting Civilization while the west and most of the east coast went for Persona 3. With the morning vote, more east coast states switched over along with like 3 or 4 other Midwest states. Persona 3 is winning the west coast and most of the south.

Sunshine > NewSMBWii sounds silly to me for whatever the reason. To be fair Sunshine does have more critical acclaim...

That Dead Rising fourpack is stupid and seriously has the potential to be the weakest fourpack we've ever seen. JRPGs have been generally looking great this contest and "it's a handheld!" isn't stopping anything, plus I'd pick TWEWY > Fire Emblem and then how much space are we putting between Dead Rising and Tony Hawk? I actually right now think that TWEWY is going to win, and then Persona 4 will whack it next round.

And I think I'm leaning towards P4 > TWEWY > DR, but I wouldn't be surprised if DR wins TWEWY's place. That match would seem like a coinflip match, but I think it won't be that close. For games THAT different I think it will end up something like TWEWY 55/45 DR or vice-versa.

Persona 3's North America percentage dropped by 0.04% in the last 10 minutes (Geolocation results update every 10 minutes). Unless there is a huge North America push in the final 11 minutes, Persona 3 will hold on in North America.

My brother had a bad trip and thought he was a Chia Pet.
He ended up cutting his hair and trying to eat it with ranch dressing like a salad. ~bugmeat

I'm late on this, but did someone honestly suggest Civ 4 could beat Other M.

I know it was controversial, but that's just silly.

Anyway, TWEWY is looking good to beat DR. JRPGs and more cult-ish games have been doing really well this contest especially against more mainstream games no one cares about. Hell, TWEWY>P3, and Civ 4 could probably beat DR.

It's neck and neck around the world, much closer than what we see currently. Civ4 is going to end very close in Europe and win the US and Canada. It totally dominated Asia though, so this is a good example of how much the Asian vote can mean what otherwise would be extremely close.
