Ok it's not gonna break 405. WTF was i thinking. San andreas is the Strongest Gta though so not surprising.

SA is not the strongest game. This is the first time it's ever winning a match, and it is only going to get around 65% on a turbo-fodder game. Vice City would kick San Andreas' ass in any sort of match here.

Based on what exactly? It got harder opponents. I doubt Vice city would beat SA.

The last perfect lives on and the -1s do really well. The -1s were just one bracket away from perfect. There's a fairly sharp drop in prediction percentage as you go to the -2s and the prediction percentage falls pretty quickly from there until it reaches just over 50. Overall the prediction percentage isn't too bad considering the games that were battling.

7 people fell off the Top 50 today. 7point9, ryan0991, karenwen, orange62, SeraphSuperNova, Heavanscloud and ajlee1 did not have Golden Sun beating R&C:UYA.

Vice City also beat KotOR and got like 47% against SSBM, albeit in a contest many years ago. Still, beating Metroid Prime is better than anything SA has ever accomplished here.

That was 6 years ago. Now it gets killed by KH and needs Paper Mario in the poll to beat a weak Metroid game. Vice City, much like GTA4, has dropped enormously in relevancy. And I say this as someone who predicted KH > VC > MP last year.

Still, beating Metroid Prime is better than anything SA has ever accomplished here.

How many chances has GTA:SA had to accomplish anything? Also, people here seem to have a lot of respect for Oblivion's strength. GTA:SA isn't that far off. Getting that close without any sort of handicap is far more impressive to me.

So tell me why VC and GTAIV would drop in relevancy, but SA wouldn't? I know this is B8 and a lot of times their own personal opinions on games becomes factual around here, but SA was hated by a pretty decent percentage of people who played it when it came out/GTA fans. You didn't get that with VC. VC and GTAIII are the only two GTA games that were loved universally by GTA fans, with VC being the game that solidified GTA being a huge franchise.

Oh, I'm sure San Andreas was probably a lot stronger back then, but we'll never really know that. The fact of the matter is, though, that it's in good company. Being nearly as strong as Oblivion is pretty decent, which is more than you can say for the other three games.

Was San Andreas hated? I didn't play the game, but I don't recall any significant backlash. Also, I know at least ONE person who was disappointed in Vice City (that would beh meh!).

No one is arguing that one of the PS2 GTAs has fallen more precipitously than others, but that a match between any of the three could have any outcome.

MP is a niche game? News to me. You think Wind Waker is a niche game as well?

Also, you can't rely on sales when it comes to these contests. GTA as a franchise is really weak here, but we're not discussing that. We're discussing which GTA game is strongest. And that game is Vice City, which has the proven record so far and has more fans than all the rest.

I know you love VC Soul but trying to argue that it is definitely more popular than SA is nonsense. Less hated, perhaps, but that is only because of a very sad and sinister reason that I will not go into here. For what it's worth (probably very little), San Andreas is by far the highest seeded GTA game and got far more nominations than its brethren. I think to settle this once and for all a 'Best GTA Game' poll is needed (not a VC v SA match as VC would wipe the floor with it due to antivotes).

I don't remember SA being hated after release. That was mostly pre-release because the GameFAQs audience is afraid of black people.

Anyone remember when the SA board was first made? It was high comedy. But yeah, once the game came out I'm pretty sure most people liked it. I recall it doing well on that top 100 list Harrich always brings up.

GS/SA would be debatable under normal circumstances, yeah, but Golden Sun DS is being released on match day and it gets a day match. It could utterly destroy San Andreas and I wouldn't blink.

We're no closer to knowing whether GS>SA or vice-versa. R&C and Dead Space are complete unknowns and don't help us at all. GTASA could triple dead space and it wouldn't make me any more confident!

Especially since Golden Sun Dark Dawn is set to be released in like 23 days.

Actually, isn't Dark Dawn set to be released the same day as SA vs GS, on Nov 29th?

If that doesn't make GS the favorite, nothing will.

We have a little idea of how strong Ratchet and Clank and Dead Space are from GotY and vote-in polls(remember, vote-in polls work on game name value as well as character strength). Plus R&C has an established series from which to draw votes, Dead Space has one game. It's still fairly murky but I'd say Golden Sun is looking better heading into the match. After R/S/E beat GTAIV, I'd say a GBA game beating a major console game, GTA specifically, is definitely possible.
