Didn't you give Golden Sun 58% yesterday? I don't try to bring up past predictions cause we all suck at them, but I said the exact same things yesterday that you're saying now and you didn't seem to care. Now that Golden Sun is doing well, it's all R&C?

he didn't do much better than the Prototype guy and that game is weaker than inFamous. that said, Dead Space could be alright, but it's a new IP and all. hard to have faith.

you're not giving UYA enough credit, Leon. is it strong? no. is it much different than Dead Space? no. it might even be stronger.

Eh, I don't know enough about Dead Space to say one way or the other. I just remember Ratchet getting tripled by Luigi when Luigi was getting 60/40'd by Squall and getting quadrupled by pre-DMC3 Dante, so I don't think UYA's really worth all that much.

I picked UYA to flop and GS to beat San Andreas and I still expected 63% to be the absolute highest GS could get here.

Man, if you think Golden Sun should beat San Andreas, 37% for UYA on that would've been excellent. That's hardly a flop.

I would have taken Dead Space over both those games before the start of the contest. It just seems like a game that would appeal to GameFAQs - it's basically RE4 in a sci-fi setting. But who knows.

if KP says Dark Dawn one more time, I'm going to scream. and the reason it's #4 on the boards is because it came out in Japan last week + the DS not getting new releases thanks to the impending 3DS. Golden Sun will win on its own merits, not some superboost. and it's got great merit based on this match.

Agreed, based on Alucard between 2k2/2k3 Cloud should have got something like 58% on Mario. Mario was able to turn that around with mass rallying, including from Planet Gamecube, maybe some cheating and the release of one of the year's biggest game on match day.

Dark Dawn is no where near what Super Mario Sunshine was back in 2002. The only way it makes a difference is if the match was already suppose to be close and the game gives it the little shove it needs to score 51% instead of 49%.

We really should wait to se what San Andreas does before we claim that it's doomed. For all we know, it could pull out something ridiculous like 80%, and we'd all be saying how GS has no chance. If it fails to get 60%, I fully approve of calling for its head, but until it does, we should just wait and see.

If Dead Space breaks 40% then I'm calling it a strong game, GTA3 has established that GTA games aren't that weak in the contest.

Analysis

It’s hard to write a match when I know nothing about one of the competitors. San Andreas should win, but I have no idea whether it is going to struggle to break 60% or 75%. I’m also not alone with that almost nobody knows that much about Dead Space other than it’s a multiplatform shooter from 2008.

San Andreas finishing last when it was the heavy favourite to finish first was pretty embarrassing and while people keep bringing that up the game performed around what we expected, it’s just that everything else performed above expectations. The other Grand Theft Auto games have performed at around expectations of normal GTA games, but that won’t matter until next round anyways.

The only information we have of Dead Space is its terrible performance in the GotY poll and Isaac Clarke’s, the main character slightly better performance in the vote-in. Not exactly showing much strength and it could be even weaker today as more and more people forget about it. Most people seem to think San Andreas will be in the 60s and I agree with them, but I think the game will finish slightly better than what the average person is thinking.

If Dead Space breaks 40%, I'll jump on the Golden Sun bandwagon. It would still mean that Dead Space is surprisingly decent because we know San Andreas isn't fodder, but it would need more than that to make me think it can handle this.

I think the best thing you can say about this match is that Golden Sun has proven that we need to discuss GTA/Golden Sun seriously. and since GTA has a reputation for flopping against real competition, GS proving itself as legit may be enough.

It looks bad, but we have nothing on DS while the other GTA games have established themselves in this contest. Take Claptrap as an example, when he did well people were calling for Zidane's head even though we had more information on Zidane and that it was more likely that Claptrap was just strong.

golden sun is one of the more popular games on this site. remember the most anticipated sequel coming up pool where GS3 came in second?

People seem to forget the fact that Golden Sun was one of the best selling non FF JRPG's in america. The games back then were immensily popular, much more popular than any Fire Emblem game. Don't be surprised if it beats SA, it has a huge fanbase, and the DD game has been in the top 10 DS boards for almost half a year now. For a standalone non console GBA RPG it's pretty damn strong.

Well, at least GTA is off to a good start. I still think Golden Sun is the favorite regardless of any performance here.

I have SA in my bracket, but for some reason I thought Dead Space had a good chance here. Guess there aren't as many GTA anti-voters as I thought.

We're still not sure which game the time frame will help, but Golden Sun has a game coming out on match day. That's been huge in the past.

SA is not the strongest game. This is the first time it's ever winning a match, and it is only going to get around 65% on a turbo-fodder game. Vice City would kick San Andreas' ass in any sort of match here.
