I didn't beat space, but LOL at the notion that it's scarier than RE4. --- DFF |

I guess if you never played and survival horror game before RE4 it could be scary. But I suppose then Banjo-Kazooie's Mad Monster Mansion would seem scary too. I'd still take the Bottom of the Well to be scarier than RE4. |

only scary games I've ever played are Silent Hill 2 and Eternal

Well
I love Fallout 3, and thats pretty dark at times! I don't know, theres
just something about RE4 that creeped me out. I also beat Eternal

beating it). --- Epona > any Western character in CB9! http://i.neoseeker.com/ca/fallout_new_vegas_conceptart_7XvFK.jpg |

you guys aren't doing the little kid thing of "Nah, man, that movie
wasn't scary," followed by waking up after 2 hours of sleep and 5
nightmares and running to your parents' bed thing, are you? Because even listening to you guys talk about these things is creeping me out. --- http://i.imgur.com/CbfFb.jpg |

I'll
be playing RE4 soon after Christmas this year...and I can't believe I
let Ryoko talk me into it with a playthrough-topic. I almost get too
tense just playing the MGS-games! Games (and movies) of this genre
aren't really why I play games, but if RE4's this big of an upcoming
classic, I gotta try it I guess. --- What has four hooves, three major LoZ-appearances, two eyes, and a song? EPONA for CB9! |

I
think what made something like Fallout 3 not as scary for me though was
VATs. Thats like a turn based system that lets you pause the action at
any time, and set up attacks on different sections of your enemys body,
so it was more strategic, while something like RE4 was all real time
and I am admitedly not good at aiming in these third person action/fps
type games. So that made it scarier for me, having things jump out at
me and not knowing what to do. --- Epona > any Western character in CB9! http://i.neoseeker.com/ca/fallout_new_vegas_conceptart_7XvFK.jpg |

I'm
no fan of horror games, or films, but RE4 really isn't that scary! It's
no worse than any other action game shooter -- there's just less
lighting in RE4 than there is in other games. Unless slow motion zombie
humans with torches freak you out, it's not too big a deal! --- There are no foreign lands. It is the traveler only who is foreign. |

RE4
has some scary parts, and it's probably the scariest RE outside REmake.
The sound of the chainsaw, the bugs you hear but can't see, the
Regenerators, the tense music. You don't need straight horror for a scary game. All you need is tension. --- ·.,¸¸,.·´¯`·.,¸¸,.·´¯`·.,¸¸,.~*ST*~.,¸¸,.·´¯`·.,¸¸,.·´¯`·.,¸¸,.· "Oh that the world were more like Ulti." -MWC |

I'm
playing through Resident Evil 4 for the first time right now, actually!
Even though I've never played a survival horror game before, I'm not
finding this one to be scary at all; I definitely think it's a blast to
play, though. One of the most entertaining games I've played in some
time. The freakiest thing I've ever seen in a video game? Without a doubt, the "Mu Training" scene in EarthBound. I totally didn't expect it at all, and man, it freaked the **** out of me! --- CURRENT GOTY SCORE: 28 Check me out everybody, I'm dancin', I'M DANCIN'! |

think RE4 was a type of "gaming shock" for a lot of people. I had never
played a game like that before, and the infamous village fight in the

Match XXXV: (5) Golden Sun vs. (12) Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal Information Name: Golden Sun Year: 2001 Previous Performance: N/A Name: Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal Year: 2004 Previous Performance: N/A Analysis After being mistakenly removed by the board in favour of Fire Emblem, something I’ll never understand Golden Sun finally gets to shine in the contest. For a while I felt that this may have been a close match though even if you ignore the people hyping Golden Sun there isn’t much reason to think that the match may be a barnburner. Ratchet & Clank games have never performed well in any polls; even Ratchet has only started to look half decent since the last contest. Personally I’m kind of surprised, while the series wasn’t anything special it is well recognized by people who played the Playstation 2. Then again newer platform characters have never been anything special and you could argue that Ratchet is the strongest new one. Golden Sun was thought to be a forgotten Nintendo series until recently where the third game is coming out later this month. Even if you ignore that a new game is coming out the game does have a pretty hardcore fanbase, but I feel some people are overrating it a bit. Golden Sun is still a lower end Nintendo series that is on a handheld. While it is true that the game did well in the hype poll that doesn’t translate to strength and a reason why it probably did well was because it was a game from a series that was long thought to be dead compare to games where the last time it had a release was a couple of years ago at maximum. Golden Sun should still win this match without too much trouble, like I said Ratchet & Clank have never looked good on GameFAQs so it would be surprising if it did now. Hopefully when everything is said and done Golden Sun finishes easily above Fire Emblem, that’ll teach them for switching it last contest. charmander6000’s Bracket: Golden Sun > Ratchet & Clank: UYA charmander6000’s Prediction: Golden Sun wins, 58.72% - 41.28% --- BOP Results: http://charmander6000.webs.com/GotD%20BOP.xls GotD Bracket: 27/32 Today's Matches: FFX & Borderlands |

GTA:SA's
not in a great position; even if GS doesn't look that good and Dead
Space gets blown out, we still saw RSE > GTA4 and GS is getting a
game the day it faces GTA:SA. We're still probably going to have some
level of doubt that GTA:SA can advance to R3 regardless of what happens
in these next two matches unless you don't think GS gets close to RSE. --- http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/3492/eponaharr.jpg Epona: C^ C< C>, C^ C< C> |

wow,
I just realized that when KOTOR/DMC comes up, Asia is going to have a
major hard-on for DMC. Polls show that DMC does amazingly well in asia,
while KOTOR tanks really badly. |

The
day match helps Golden Sun, but I think it's now generally believed
that San Andreas is stronger than GTAIV (might be completely wrong, but
that's what we presume atm). Pokemon needed its ASV to beat what we
presume is a weaker GTA, and I have hesitation thinking Golden Sun is
stronger than any mainline Pokemon game. Pre-match edge still goes to
GTA for me. |
