you have made some truly awful predictions so far this tourney. GS will blow Rachet away. Just like SMG2 will blow FF13 away at GOTY.

I'm not even talking about winning or losing. Based on everything we've seen, Golden Sun seems like it should just plain blow out UYA. I think it could (and should) easily clear 60% - if it doesn't, I'll be pretty disappointed!

I think VJ would beat Vesperia with help of the joke vote. I'm pretty sure one of the reasons FF didn't break 80% (not the only reason, but certainly an important one) is because of the pic dissonance between FFX (one of the more disliked FF leads in history) and Viewtiful Joe (...Viewtiful Joe). You can't look at that guy and not want to vote him over some random generic JRPG people.

For some wierd reason I say "Nooo!" seeing Vesperia losing... even though I have Borderlands winning in my bracket... this has never happened to me before. Maybe it is because I was pretty sure Vesperia was going to win this in my battle challenge but I banked last minute?

This whole contest is feeling like "who cares" to me. It must be the lack of Chrono Trigger. No amount of statistical manipulation will allow me to I argue why these results make CT look better.

I guess the other thing is that usually, a game/character in my top 5 wins the contest (hooray for being a Link and Cloud fan), and none of the contenders for this one are even close. Even Melee.....I don't actually like Melee all that much- I'd be happier about Brawl losing the contest than Melee winning the contest.

Minus stuff like Kingdom Hearts, and the inevitable conclusion, this is probably one of the better contests in a long time. Beats the last game contest, for sure.

That was more than enough to keep it from being a great contest. When your contest has more wasted potential than actualized potential, you have a problem.

the N64/PS1 era is the strongest or at least has the strongest games if you include Pokemon GB games. so no getting rid of SNEs/NEs wouldn't be good. I would love to see NES games up against modern games.

To be honest, I don't think I hate 4-ways so so much anymore. It's a nice way of handling fodder- you never have to have matches with nothing but fodder in them.

And there were a ton of things wrong with the bracket design of the last games contest, but there was so much potential with our first games contest in 5 years that it still managed to be an above average contest anyway.

I just counted fifty-eight games from this bracket that I've played at least ten minutes of before. That's a lot more than I realized, and I've barely kept up with gaming this generation since I don't own any current system...heck, I just got a PS2 this year.

Still been enjoying the hell out of this contest.

I don't really care how you handle fodder, but 4-ways end up ruining so many potentially good matches because they're full of a crapload of LFF, especially Games Contests where Square and Nintendo fill the upper echelon. When we walked away from the last Games Contest, pretty much the only thing we knew was OoT > FFVII.

I'd say the biggest problem with 4-ways is games getting eliminated before they deserve to be due to LFF, but the thing is it didn't really happen much with that contest: Of the top 10, I'd say only RBY has a case that it was robbed of a placement it deserved based on its strength. OOT and FFVII also legitimized that contest in a large way by not succumbing to bandwagoning, and then facing off in a 1v1 at the end.

No, there wasn't a lot of things being eliminated before they should have been, but you still ended up with matches that could've been a lot better than they were if not for all that LFF.

Generational divides suck. I'm really curious to see how older games like SMB3 and SMW would fare against a lot of these games. Stick one of those two in, and I'd bet it'd easily be the fourth or fifth-strongest game in the bracket, depending on whether you'd take GSC over them (I probably wouldn't).

I'd also like to see LttP vs Melee. I think LttP still has a strong case to be the #3 game on this site, and it'd be great to see it beat or at least challenge the crap out of Melee.

Pretty sure that's been covered several times. It'd still be kinda dull, even between taking the first winner (inevitable second-place snubs) or taking the top two (incredibly boring second round).

This really is the best solution, as it keeps 1v1 but also helps speed through the boring matches. Imagine having to wait 24 hours for each match in this next run of matches!

Yea, most of these coming up are pretty boring. R&C is fun, but it's not beating GS. Dead Space doesn't stand a chance against GTASA. DMC had a chance before the contest, but DMC3's piss poor performance on Mother 3 makes me doubt it gravely. Tony Hawk 2 was really popular, but can it get over the "gamefaqs hates sports games?" Not against an established jRPG series it can't!

Now before the contest, I had no doubt in my mind that CIV would crush whatever that Persona thing is. But for some reason the M3 result bothers me. If some niche, never released in the US jRPG can avoid a doubling from DMC3, Persona should do better, right?

So more people should talk about CIV, really.
