That's hardly fair though. FF has clearly lost a step on this site (probably backlash and partly a due breed of gamer becoming more prevalent here). The 2D characters were abysmally weak already so they had nowhere to go but up really.

I don't necessarily buy the vote-in comparison with GH2.

But this is a terrible performance for FFX because it has no excuse failing to break 80% on Viewtiful Joe, which is fodder. Definitely opens up the talk of upsets. GSC>FFX/MGS4 wasn't really considered that big of an upset to begin with.

There's a few outside chances, but yeah, I think FFX will be the favorite to reach the finals on its side on the bracket.

Melee or Brawl should still crush it, though.

After seeing this result, i'm inclined to agree. The really frustrating part is i had FFX with 77.5% in the Oracle until i saw everyone going 80+% and checked the vote-in results. Should have stuck with my gut.

Despite all this, it's gonna have to get a lot close to 80% tonight if I'm gonna feel any comfort about it beating GSC. We gotta see FFX face something more respectable and see GSC in action, but Pokemon's weakest games have been doing their job well enough and I've not felt any stronger about FFX here than my reluctant favorite in that match. That GH2/VJ-comparison isn't flattering either, though that's rough evidence on another issue.

This sig-space should be replaced by any number of GameFOX-sigs I made to support Epona from LoZ:OoT to make the next Character Battle.

FFX will not look impressive throughout the whole contest but it will still make its way to the finals before losing to Brawl/Melee (and putting a very respectable fight) much like cloud did last contest.

There's so much vote-in reliance and Joe underrating that it's hilarious. Some of you must really want FFX to not win the contest THAT bad, huh?

Cloud rose just under 6% from this point in his match against Ridley. FFX has a tougher task ahead of it, however, because it's starting at a much higher point than Cloud's 66% and it probably wasn't anti-voted nearly as badly. I'd say reaching 79% would be an accomplishment; doubt it can manage that.

Plus, Metroid related stuff is pathetic at night... its horrible in Europe and Asia. Viewtiful Joe is actually higher in europe atm then it is overall.

For the longest time, I had FFX winning in my bracket; but I switched to Melee not too long before bracket lockdown, primarily because I'm an SSB fanboy.

...as I said during the RSE/GTA4 match: I need to make fanboy picks more often!

For the record, I think VJ easily beats GH2 in a direct matchup. VJ clearly is at more of a disadvantage in a 12-way poll. Casual friendly games fair much better in such large polls because people who really love VJ are usually more inclined to vote for another good game that's in the poll.

Even back in Viewtiful Joes hey day, it couldnt even get close to Tails in a match... and these days, its an all but forgotten series. There is absolutely no excuse to not get 80% here, especially after Melee owned that match against GH2.

Losing to GSC is a very real possibility and always has. Think it's safe from RE4; past matches are just a little too clear cut for that upset to happen.
