this is lol MW2, not lol Dissidia. that it's going to end up getting less than 60% against a game it quadrupled in the GOTY poll is really embarrassing.

I'll agree about this -- it's letting anti-voting, apathy-voting, and/or a fall in strength let a PSP-game look respectable. Let's see what the next few updates do.....

KH2 has 98.43% support in the guru contest and 100% support in the Board Odds Project. That probably wouldn't be obvious if all you had to look at was this chart. The -2s and better stay above 70, but that's not that great for what should have been a really easy call. We even lose a perfect on this match. At least all of the tiers managed to stay obve 50 until we get to the low tiers with few brackets in them. A few more matches like this are what we need to get more Board 8 representation on the Top 50.

12 people fell off the Top 50 this time. mister_flare, bh102483, mjg3456789, Zerochris5002, KD100396, Split_Eclipse, Mister_Feeny, aicalo7, cammio, MagThor, piemaestro and incakesforme did not have Kingdom Hearts 2 beating Halo 2.

1 person got the match wrong and survived. Former second place Junkcar02 also did not have Kingdom Hearts 2 beating Halo 2.

Dissidia will stop falling very shortly, and will then have all night to gain. Actually, MW2 probably wouldn't be able to pull itself together until the ASV, so Dissidia has the rest of the match to gain.

The fact that people still use GotY polls to judge contest strength confuses me. Why are we doing that again? Haven't we learned from last contest not to trust any sort of non-contest related polls in judging strength?

GotY polls could be useful in some cases, but the thing is knowing how to apply them in a responsible manner. While a 10-way GotY poll might not be a good idea to use, the 3-way GotY poll should be more accurate than the 10-way GotY poll.

I would take UC2, Dragon Age, Batman, and Assassin's Creed II over MW2. Maybe Borderlands too. MW2 has definitely fallen off the map since then.

Why did I pick Brawl to win the contest?

I have FF12 running to the division finals. But I gotta be honest, after seeing the rally potential that TF2 put up, I wouldn't be surprised if Portal pulled it out against one of the most divisive FF games in the core series.

That said, whoever wins round 2 pretty much getting a free pass to the division finals.

I'll be shocked if Portal doesn't beat FFXII.

Random thoughts after seeing the match pics...
*What in the HELL is "Plants vs. Zombies"? I don't recall even seeing this game when I made my bracket. The match pics is the first I have ever, ever heard of this game. How did this make the bracket? Who nominated this??
*I never noticed Jet Grind Radio either, although that very vaguely seems like I might have heard of it. RE4 will brutalize it though. I see 85+% here, this will be one of the biggest blowouts of the contest.
*Portal is going to embarrass GoW2. I have Portal>FF12 and Portal>ME in my bracket and I'm not sure about either of those, but GoW2 is going to look like a turd against Portal.

I'd have to say FF7 sequel and KH3 are bigger announcements in terms of industry reception, but for GameFAQs users Chrono Break would be just as hyped as a FF7 sequel (assuming it was a big budget console release and not some stupid handheld cheapie). For me personally it's close between FF7 sequel and Chrono Break.

Why are people acting like FO3>Oblivion for sure? I don't know about that at all. I think they're pretty close, very hard to call. Like you yourself said earlier, I think people may be overrating FO3 because it will make the elite eight. Oblivion would probably cruise in that division as well. The division is simply a joke.

Also Goldeneye is a great call for strongest Western game. The fact that a licensed FPS from 1997 is the strongest Western game on the site tells you everything you need to know.

FO3 /Oblivion would be close, only because they have similar fanbases and Oblivion was one of the mowst popular games at the start of the gen...if it wasn't for Oblivion Fallout wouldn't have done so well. Oblivion with guns etc..

anyhow Dissida getting the % i predicted or roughely. Shows how weak PSP really is. I'm willing to bet a HUGE % of Dissidia's votes are from FF fans who probably haven't even played Dissidia. Not to mention the MW2 anti votes.

I predict and analyse the Game of the Decade contest here:

This is going to sound silly, but I had dreams of Impossible Pictures becoming a game development studio, with such games as:

-A Shadow of the Colossus-style adventure but with the main character shrunken to face insects and loads of other creepy crawlies, also attempting to avoid framerate problems and not having a horse to ride around.
-Partnering with Square Enix for Chrono Break, starring this group of American teens and featuring Lavos in the incarnation of a giant roach, and possibly featuring a cameo from Squall Leonhart.
-Partnering with Square Enix and Nintendo for this RPG serving as a prequel to the Metroid series, starring some prehistoric animals under Ridley's command and using music from the Final Fantasy and possibly Zelda/Mario/Mother franchises as well.
-Partnering with Nintendo to release a remake of The Legend of Zelda for the 3DS.
-Partnering with Nintendo and Square Enix to remake Metroid: Other M, this time with a Wind Waker-esque combat system and new plot elements, and basically killing off most of the game's flaws.
-Partnering with Nintendo and Retro Studios to release a more story-oriented Mario game (aka instead of saving the princess he gets to save Earth instead!) that brings back Mario's boxing moves and the caps from Mario 64.

What do you guys think?

Why did I pick Brawl to win the contest?

Fallout 3 over Oblivion just makes sense to me. Oblivion's popularity kinda caught me off-guard but Fallout 3's makes a lot of sense. I see a lot more buzz for that game overall.

this match is funny. some people are going lol PSP and some are going lol MW2. I'm in the latter camp and think this is a great performance for a PSP fighting game. I wouldn't expect SF4 to do this well, meaning that Dissidia's probably the strongest non-Smash fighter in the bracket. Crisis Core could be pretty legit.
