The
Final Fantasy name means a lot more than the Resident Evil name. FFXIII
should win GOTY- it wasn't hated or anything. Even FFXII beat Kingdom
Hearts 2 in the GOTY, although of course TP was way stronger. --- Nominate Crono so he can get a higher seed and avoid being fed to Clinkeroth early in the contest. |

It's
a shame we never saw GD properly without N64 games SFFing it to the
ground. I'd take it over FO3 in 1v1 simply because of it's N64
fanbase..and lets not forget for a FPS(especially back then) it was

Didn't
Galaxy win in 2007? I'm not saying the sequel will win this year, but
it'll help being most likely the sole Nintendo game on the Overall GotY

RE5 wasn't hated either. it was just mediocre. Mario Kart 64 got 30% on FF7 too and that's not that strong. --- xyzzy |

Well, I admit I don't know the FFXIII fanbase very well, but anyway, you know what game was hated? Wind Waker. The game was hated from the moment Nintendo announced it would be cel-shaded. Then it came out, and many fans were stuck between a state of denial and acceptance that it wasn't as good as OOT. People who could look beyond OOT realized that WW was a solid game in its own right, but it has never gotten out from the shadow of cel-shading and being OOT's sequel among the Zelda fanbase. --- Nominate Crono so he can get a higher seed and avoid being fed to Clinkeroth early in the contest. |

Look at the Game of the Century poll that took place the day after and see how close it got to TP there. Kart 64 is decently strong, and Goldeneye was in a much worse position
LFF-wise (a third Nintendo game instead of a PS1 JRPG). Besides, if GE
beats MK64 58-42, that would put like probably 20+ games in between

I'd
expect FFXIII to lose to Galaxy 2 before I would expect it to win,
anyway. It'll probably come down to ME2 and RDR -- bettin' on Mass

Galaxy
2 has been so underwhelming. the key to winning GOTY is to have a lot
of exposure so everyone plays your game. Galaxy 2 did not have that on

I just don't hear anything about FF13 anymore. Gonna side with ME2 this

think Red Dead's got a shot at ME2, DLC keeps it fresh and it's got a
bigger appeal thanks to it being multiplatform on consoles. I reckon ME2 since it started of only on the 360 and PC it might get that lil stigma attached to it. --- Nyoro~n |

Not sure how late I am, but with regards to CT vs. FFX: I'd still take Chrono Trigger in the near-future (say, the next couple of years). Yes, CT lost to Chrono Trigger twice, but it should still be able to easily break 45% in a 1v1 and may end in the high 40s. ME2 coming out before 2011? sweet, it's got this in the bag then. Then again if a crappy game like KH 358/2 can dominate a DS poll, a slightly better received and more mainstream game like FFXIII is gonna very tough to beat. --- mii~ |

think that CT/SOTN really did overlap. It makes no sense how SM64 went
from 66% to 72% on SOTN between rounds. It's also hard for me to fathom
how CT could do better with FFVII + GE than with Yoshi's Island + a
neutral. And if that's true, it means CT is in the 48-50% range on SM64 (what it got) rather than the 45-46% area that's a possibility with SM64/YI LFF. --- Nominate Crono so he can get a higher seed and avoid being fed to Clinkeroth early in the contest. |

bro, I'd buy 48% as an upper limit, but I'm not giving CT a "50% range"
on Mario 64 after two losses. And while I agree with you that SotN
probably did overlap more with CT, I think it did so much worse in
Round 2 partly because it was lost in the shuffle in what was basically

to hardcore gamers, Chrono Break would be bigger. But in general, KH3

Hearts isn't so much 'milked' as it is 'fans want a mainline console
sequel and still don't have one'. People are tired of handheld
spinoffs, yeah, but Kingdom Hearts III would be quite the announcement,
