Bacon chose the 24 (?) games that had the most votes across all the polls. Polls 1 and 3 had some real powerhouses that sucked up the votes, thus leaving less votes for the other games, while poll 2 lacked any real powerhouses, and many games were able to get the 4500ish votes needed to make the cut.

Analysis

It’s always cool to see two ASV powerhouses going at it just to see who wins the ASV. This half of the division was designed to bring the two Kingdom Hearts games together in a match that has decent hype for it. For the second contest in a row Halo 2 will be the only Halo game not to survive the first round.

Kingdom Hearts II was comparable to Resident Evil 4 last contest while Halo 2 couldn’t even handle World of Warcraft. Interestingly enough Metal Gear Solid 3, who went about even with Resident Evil 4 was also in that match giving us a much easier time for comparing. There is however some question to Metal Gear Solid 3’s performance. In that match Twilight Princess performed a lot better compare to what it did when Kingdom Hearts II was in the match. So was it Twilight Princess getting some SFF now that the fans thought Resident Evil 4 was safe or do Metal Gear Solid 3 and Resident Evil 4 share some kind of overlap. This match may give us the answer.

The performances of the Kingdom Hearts characters were not impressive and could translate into a drop in strength for the games. Given their strength and paths they aren’t in any danger of losing before reaching each other although Bioshock is currently putting up a decent performance, but at the same time their chance at upsetting Twilight Princess doesn’t look good either.

Kingdom Hearts II should break 60% in this match, but given it has reason to be weaker this year I think it will fail to reach that mark. People have wanted another Kingdom Hearts game for years and for the sake of its strength they better hope that they get one in the near future in order to preserve its strength.

Portal is bloody strong, and bioshock is about same strength imo.

Also, "equal to Halo 3" to "Beats KH2" is a pretty big leap, regardless of whether or not KH2 has dropped since 2009.

And FFXII would be killing this poll, too. Let's not get too carried away here.

And we'll have an idea of how big that leap is today when KHII faces Halo 2 anyway, since the difference between Halo 2 and 3 probably isn't that large indirectly.

Fun fact: BioShock's worst demographic in the last contest was the night vote, and Big Daddy has shown himself to be a day-oriented character. I'm not sure why people are hyping "Oh man, BioShock could win because it's a NIGHT MATCH!" here. Yeah, I know KHII isn't that great with it, but BioShock would need to be great with it to pull off the upset there, and it's not.
