Pokemon has had a good ASV in the past, since it's always does better in American than in Europe. That's what the ASV is, not kiddies voting. We just didn't realize this prior to Geolocation. I don't know if there's any proof that Pokemon's good ASV is the result of kiddies voting. In fact, the ASV should be weaker now than it was a few years ago. Just look at these 2 polls: http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=2725 http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=3864 One is from 4/18/2007 and the other is from 3/29/2010. The number of 14-17 year olds dropped off a lot in 3 years in favor of 18-20 and 21-25 year olds. GTA's
won three updates in a row now, at least. Would be a shame for this

This
one was over a while ago. The ASV ends very slowly and gradually. Don't
expect GTAIV to actually make consistent, sustained, cuts until 11 PM. --- Nominate Crono so he can get a higher seed and avoid being fed to Clinkeroth early in the contest. |

sure this is over yet. Pokemon has had a good ASV in the past, since
it's always does better in American than in Europe. That's what the ASV
is, not kiddies voting. We just didn't realize this prior to
Geolocation. Both contribute to the ASV, but the effect of kids getting off school is a lot bigger. It is the after school vote, after all. North America accounts for a big majority of the votes both before and during the ASV; the change from a lot of younger voters voting is usually much bigger. For example, take Chrono Trigger. It does hugely better in North America than the world, but it collapses come ASV-time. --- Nominate Crono so he can get a higher seed and avoid being fed to Clinkeroth early in the contest. |

If
the site is trending older, then even geolocation-based ASV would get
weaker too. That's because people getting off of school is the entire
reason for the ASV- even geolocation effects from it ultimately stem
from American and Canadian kids finishing school for the day (in that
case, it would just mean that these kids are voting along the same
lines as older Americans/Canadians). You may be right that the ASV as a whole is getting weaker though, Luster. It's hard to tell though as we've seen a total of 1 proper ASV (in a 24-hour match, since trends are different in 12-hour) since June 2009. That was Link/Mario, a match in which we wouldn't expect a huge shift in the ASV. --- Nominate Crono so he can get a higher seed and avoid being fed to Clinkeroth early in the contest. |

I think the ASV could be getting weaker. Here is a comparison for 2 different polls: Time | Poll 3864 | Poll 2893 EBV | 1358 | 1485 PHV | 12125 | 11452 FNV | 23840 | 20915 BSV | 12954 | 13431 DSV | 32358 | 28902 ASV | 40075 | 46498 SNV | 7393 | 7749 That chart lists the number of votes for each time period. Both polls were weekday polls. Poll 3864 is the age poll from earlier this year. Poll 2893 is the Duke/Ike/Gordon/Guybrush match on 10/03/2007. I chose Poll 2893 because is a 202 vote difference in the final vote total for Poll 3864 and Poll 2893 (128745 and 128947 votes respectively). As you could see from that chart, Poll 2893 had the stronger ASV, as Poll 2893 had about 6400 more votes during the ASV compared to the ASV for Poll 3864. The
ASV might be getting weaker, but the FNV is getting stronger as a
result of that. The SNV is more of a weaker version of the ASV, so it
would make sense for the SNV to be slightly weaker today than it was 3
