GTA4 is fine. It was at 18% at 3 PM against Brawl, CoD4 and Galaxy, and it ended up at 17.96% against those ASV beasts. Best Pokemon can hope for is a stall, I think.

Few things.

You guys that keep saying GTAIV will be okay with the ASV realize that it only needs to lose it by a few % to lose this match, because it's not really building any sort of lead. I'm actually feeling pretty good about Pokemon here in an hour or so. This will definitely feel like an "escape" if I get it right.

And are people seriously doubting the stats topic right now? I thought we got over that crap years ago. We kill the casuals 95% of the time normally. Absolutely kill them. Just because the casuals call some illogical pick here or there does not make them even close to our level. There's a reason that this is the contest board, and there's a reason that this is the stats topic. We know our ****. Please don't pretend otherwise.

Well, there go my battle points. Oddly, I had actually picked GTA4 in my bracket, so I do okay there.

This contest has been such a weird one to predict, there's been so many instances of "bad game in good series" that it's almost impossible to predict what will happen. So far, I thought the trick was to "bet on the better game, regardless of what series it's from", but that fails here because both of these games are bad entries in their respective franchises.


Not like it matters, though, I've been out of both contests for ages. I actually think the Battle brackets work even worse than the regular brackets in practice, because the streak bonus becomes so absurdly high after a while. It should probably cap at some point.

I think it's really silly to differentiate the stats topic from the board in general. We've reached the point where Stats and the average Board 8er pretty much have the same level of contest knowledge. Actually, we probably reached that point years ago. And Board 8 obliterates the average bracket maker every year.

GTA4 lost like .5% to Brawl in the ASV, and Brawl should have a better ASV than Pokemon. GTA 4 is also dominating in NA, and has almost 57% in New York (which makes sense since it takes place in NYC). It'll be fine.

The only thing I can find on Disgaea is the series is at 1.6 million lifetime(and I'd imagine that a good deal of that is from the first game). I had no Valkyria rebounded so nicely though. Vgchartz(as much as I don't trust their numbers) has Valkyria at 580k in America now. If it's anywhere near that then that's pretty amazing.

Yeah you're right yo, and that's what I was saying. Smurf and co. like to dog on the stats topic every chance they get (well Smurf does it mainly because he's still upset that Leonhart stole his Sonic > Crono topic) but you guys are a big influence on the rest of board 8's picks and as you said, board 8 ain't nothin' to **** with when it comes to bracket making.

GTA is not even close to dominating in NA. It has pretty much the exact percentage as it does overall. If that drops even slightly over the next few hours, Pokemon has time to come back with room to spare because GTA has done absolutely nothing in terms of lead building.

.5% higher in NA than overall might not be dominating, but it is very significant since the majority of the votes come from NA. You'll barely ever see more than 1-2% difference in NA than overall percentage.

Also your numbers must be from earlier this afternoon or something, which should worry you even more as they've been decreasing. GTA's only got 54% in NY now.

In previous matches, GTA4 has showed Xbox trends instead of PS2 GTA type of trends. And Xbox trends do good in the ASV. Theres no reason to think it'll go against former GTA4 trends here.

A few words on Sunshine/Halo and this match.

In Sunshine / Halo, the stats topic vets actually did pretty well. It was the rest of board 8 that got killed (according to the Show)

For today's match, the only reason I picked RSE was a good old-fashioned case of Pokefear, and never-trust-GTA-syndrome.

The lead's under 300 and Pokemon's pretty great with the ASV. GTA4 can be good too, but 300 shouldn't be that hard to overcome for anything-Pokemon in a pretty even match.

Pretty sure this is GTA's match. Its votals are steadily increasing, showing an upward trend on the ASV, while RSE's votals are only getting a very slight increase. Unless there's a sudden shift in the next ASV wave, this is over.
