Well I'm going to go ahead and answer the question regarding Edge Magazine.

They've handed out perfect scores to Halo 3, The Orange Box, Super Mario Galaxy, Grand Theft Auto IV, LittleBigPlanet, Bayonetta, and Super Mario Galaxy 2. That's over half the perfect scores they've handed out.

But I actually am not such a big fan of Edge. They've more or less USUALLY right when it comes to what's best (especially in recognizing that Super Metroid is still such a classic), but these guys handed out 6/10 to Melee, FFX, and Morrowind. Come on.

Why did I pick Brawl to win the contest?

Yeah, SMG1/2 would have undoubtedly been more looked forward to if it wasn't for SMS...though it's not SMS's fault that Nintendo put eleven years between SM64 and SMG, either. When your only main-line console release between that period was the weakest point in your series, you're going to lose people.

You've hit it right. People don't care about Mario like they used to.

Which is a crying shame, honestly. Mario's like the Fire Emblem of consoles. Consistency and excellence from beginning to end! ;)

The fact that platformers REALLY started to lose popularity after Super Mario 64's release doesn't help either. I suppose you could say that this generation the genre is seeing a bit of a facelift, but GameFAQs doesn't have to care about everything.

Hmmm, maybe it's not POKELOL quite yet. GTA recovered nicely from the immediate board vote, but it has kinda halted its charge. Still anyone's game, but Pokemon will redeem itself a bit in my eyes if the "weakest one" according to fans beats GTA without a struggle.

Really looks like Pokemons days of being strong are all but over, and they didn't last very long in the first place!

GTAIV has probably declined based on what it was last year and its probably only the #4 in the series, likewise for RSE I suppose but you're essentially looking at an equal priority Pokemon vs GTA here and GTA is looking good to win.
