Well, that's it for my battle challenge thing, this is probably over in favor of VC. I had 12k points, I think a 15 match streak...not bad I guess. Never banked though. Didn't really considered banking on this match anyway so it doesn't matter.

Nice job by VC. Definitely seems like a very cool game. One of those games that is probably not nearly as popular as it should be, just from the looks of it.

VC has the edge in Europe - the amount of the difference will almost certainly get closer, but it should remain ahead there, which means the trends don't favor Disgaea here. In fact the only continent Disgaea is winning is...South America? Makes one wonder how this match is even close.

Yeah, VC is pretty much a fantastic game all-around. I think I can count the times on one hand when I've heard somebody express dislike for it. Most of the time, I hear things like "I wasn't interested in it, because I hate anime and I don't really like RPGs, but my friend/brother/dog made me play it and I was totally blown away by how great it is."

That said, I couldn't be more happy to completely bomb a match. Unfortunately, VC won't last past the second round, but beating out Disgaea really thrills me. N1 hasn't put out a decent game since 2003.

People just don't dislike VC. It's either 'like' or 'never played'.

Valkyria Chronicles isn't really a jRPG. It's basically a strategy game with an anime look. As for the story, I was actually impressed at how realistic and...not-Japan all the characters were, and with how the storyline played out.

well see it's a SRPG but every character's turn you actually get to move during each of their turn in a battlefield (and you can shoot as much as you can during your turn after you start moving)

From what I've heard it sounds a lot like Fire Emblem except the combat is more action-oriented. Which isn't a bad thing; FE's on my list of "greatest games ever made ever", but it's still by Sega, and I have a difficult time finding anime I like these days; that's what's keeping me away from it.

Also the fact that if I got it I'd have to wait until I beat Disgaea 3, and I haven't started Disgaea 3 because I'm still in the middle of Etrian Odyssey III.

'By Sega' is a silly complaint. The only games Sega screws up are Sonic games.

And trust me. VC is leagues better than Disgaea 3. Disgaea 3 isn't even good, and this is coming from a big Disgaea 1 fan.

VC's storyline and characters are pretty realistic and down to earth. There are definite anime elements, but that's not a bad thing. I found it to strike a very good balance between realism and 'anime' stuff.

Congratulations on not naming a game past the year 2000.

Sega just hasn't come out with anything that interesting to me lately. I play Bayonetta and couldn't get into it. MadWorld was repetitive as hell. Yeah both of those are from Platinum, but off the top of my head I can't name a single non-Sonic game by Sega recently.

I suppose someday I may give in and play VC (after all, you guys were right about Persona 3), but I'm in no hurry.

A pretty high prediction percentage for what was suppose to be a debatable match. The prediction percentage actually goes up a bit near the bottom.

14 people fell off the Top 50 today. Former third place Groves22, clayallen17, Squalldaman, effs420, Dream_slayer, darclogan, djsporty92, slimdimsimjim, lokiloktar, crono1009, JaiCSC, incakesforme, Neoblaze619 and Psymin1 had Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance losing to WWF No Mercy.

We're at the point where if you submitted your bracket early enough, you can stay on the Top 50 after getting a match wrong. One person managed just that. Former first place ryan0991 also had Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance losing to WWF No Mercy.

Well, bollocks - I really didn't expect much from Valkyria. I figured Disgaea's longer lifespan - combined with its massive picture advantage - would give it the edge here.

This leaves a very big question: since it's obviously a waste to bank 300 points, should I go with the logical choice of GTA4 > RSE, or stand by my regular bracket and go with Pokemon? It definitely seems like GTA4's match to lose, but Niko's godawful performance earlier this year gives me faint hope of a Pokemon upset.
