Analysis

It’s matches like this that made me wish that we didn’t get 128 games. Neither of these games deserves to win a match yet here we are with the two going against each other. In a match between two games that no one cares people tend to pick the top option slightly more often than the second, but this is one of the few cases where the bottom option will likely win due to being slightly more known.

The main argument for Valkyria Chronicles is that the sale of the game exploded after a price cut that occurred after the last poll with the game included meaning the game is probably stronger than what the polls indicate. While I agree Valkyria Chronicles does have a lot to cover since its performance was already pretty bad. However just because its sales sextupled or something doesn’t mean its strength will either and looking at its final game sales it isn’t that impressive, then again neither are Disgaea.

I don’t want to rule out Valkyria Chronicles, but Disgaea and Laharl have been contest staples since the 2004 contest and like his win over Neku I feel that enough people will recognize the game/Laharl from previous contests to keep this out of reach along with his normal fans. Expect terrible vote totals as well.

After learning how No Mercy got over-seeded due to the Guru thing, I thought Fire Emblem could get low 60's here, maybe even mid 60's...didn't think it could hit 70% though. I was considering an Oracle pick of 60%ish but didn't want to risk it, since I thought there was a chance FE could be fodder as well. (and honestly, it probably isn't too far ahead of fodder, NM is just epic turbofodder)

Good thing I switched to Fire Emblem in my battle bracket. I was considering banking here, especially with a somewhat questionable Disgaea/VC match coming up, but I was pretty confident FE would win after learning about the guru thing. Because No Mercy being a 6 seed is the only reason I picked it here. My poor logic being "wow, a 6 seed, maybe this game isn't complete fodder and people actually remember it"

The original Smash was never really that popular or that full of quality. By all intensive purposes, the series started with Melee, like GTA3 or Fallout 3 essentially started their series.

Unfortunately, Ike would crush Bayonetta. Action stars are bigger than their games, sure, but I doubt Bayonetta is the kind of action star GameFAQs would go for. Needs more muscles and a wang. Or white hair.

Still worth getting into the next contest just to see, though.

I just looked up some gameplay on youtube though and it looks pretty badass. I figured it was a swords and magic type game, but it's actually a modern tank/machine gun tactical RPG...are there even any others like that? That's gotta be one fo the more unique games I've heard of.
