Will Brawl be able to SFF the best Mario Kart like this?

Darn, I feel so odd about the Perfect Dark/Conker match. I really want to just bank there but at the same time I feel like you guys make it seem like such an obvious match, and not banking would get me so many points (if I get everything else right).

I just feel like Conker has a pretty good chance at winning

I feel like we are all going to jump on the Melee bandwagon in a few days because Mario Kart should be able to resist SFF. And the fact the Mario Kart 64 is the most emulated game should give it a boost.

While I occasionally hear somebody rave about Conker, I far more often hear fantastic things about Perfect Dark (I played it myself when I was younger and had an N64, loved that game). It's like Goldeneye 007 with boobs, honestly. 007 would almost certainly slam PD into the ground in a 1v1 match with heavy SFFing, but as a 007 replacement, I would mark it as a solid win over Conker.

Why Smash is that popular?Because it has Nintendo characters?Also that proves that the final match will be Melee/Brawl>FFX.Oh well I wanted FFX to win but whatever...

Just how many points do you have? If you feel that uncomfortable about it (and not WC3/Morrowind), it really depends on whether you have a lot more to gain. If you're like Top 50-level, then it'd be worth banking on it if you don't feel confident. If you've only got a thousand points or so, I'd bet on it.

And Melee is wrecking **** today. This is just further evidence that whichever Smash game wins the big match is a lock for the final. Even if inFamous is stronger than GH2, the gap's too big, especially when we're at these big percentages where it requires a lot more votes to go up a percentage. Not that anyone didn't already know Smash was a lock in the finals.

Maniac64 is a horrible user.

Even though I picked Brawl to win the contest I have a feeling that Melee is going to kick some ass.

Not such an appropriate Game of the Decade winner but it at least has the contest strength to back up its 1 seed, unlike, uh, Metroid Prime, which is neither.

Nobody thought Fallout 3 had a chance against Smash. The only real competition before the finals is Twilight Princess, and even though they might be close in strength, having a day match is just going to kill TP. Brawl destroyed TP with the board vote and ASV last contest.

Because it's a great game..AND has nintendo characters in it. i was disspaointed by brawl but Melee was amazing. People spent probably the entire GCN gen playing Melee, it was one of the best selling and most popular GCN games.

On Brawl/Melee:

- Arguing the winner based on past matches is stupid, since this is a cut and dry SFF situation. Think Mario/Samus
- It will ultimately come down to which game is more preferred by the casual fanbase, which is Brawl by a landslide
- There's no reason to think Melee will beat Brawl, and any matches leading up to it are inconsequential since we all know they're both roughly equal in strength anyways

Hmm, just a random thought, if Dissidia was made 8 years ago for PS2, I think everyone would agree that it would be a solid contender for GotD for sure, even above FFX. Alas the game came out 7 years too late and on a handheld.

This is the closest you're gonna get to analysing their strengths. Lets say You repalced MGS4 with Pokemon in Melees poll....MGS4 wouldn't get as many votes as Pokemon but how much would Melee do? OoT did the same numbers...so you would think moer of Pokemons votes would go to Melee instead of MGS4.

Again..still innaccurate but Melee is favourite.

I wouldn't say above FFX. And i agree with seph..if it was on Xbox/Ps3 it would be MUCH more popular, but i don't think dissidia is that good of a game to begin with..again not a great argument sine if it was aonPS3 it would be a lot better and would be more popular.

Analysis

This is the first match where both games came from the same year. This match has had a lot of debate, but it also has a lot of people who feel pretty confident in Warcraft III. It doesn’t help that we have so little information on one of the games while the other one doesn’t have much more. For fun the 2002 GotY poll suggests that Warcraft III would crush Morrowind with ease, but a lot has changed since then.

People have been down playing Morrowind’s performance in the previous contest which I find to be a bit weird. 27% against Final Fantasy X is not bad when you consider that Diablo II would get 33% against an adjusted Final Fantasy X for Kingdom Hearts. You could argue that Morrowind over performed because all three opponents were all Playstation 2 games, but I’m not sure it would make a huge difference.

I’ve always considered Warcraft to be the third wheel between the Blizzard series, but apparently there’s a lot of debate between which series is stronger. Warcraft performed decently in the series contest and a few months ago it was barely behind Diablo and easily won over Starcraft on the favourite series poll. The main question is how much is the performance due to World of Warcraft and how much is it due to the other games?

I feel that Warcraft III will take it as the game is still played today and it doesn’t quite suffer from the hate that World of Warcraft suffers. It won’t be an easy win, but it should make it out alive. Also if you guys thought Deus Ex fans were bad wait until you see The Elder Scrolls fans go at it.

Dissidia would have been a bad game on any system.

I didn't personally like it but if they were developing on a more technically advanced system with bigger production budget it would be better by default, more content/better graphics and online.

This is why I can't stand the PSP. They waste good console games on it. Peace Walker would've been a fantastic game on the PS3 and would've sold a ton, same with Dissidia. But they decide to be cheap as hell and make it on their awful portable.

Peace Walker would've been sooo much better on PS3, but that's basically the only game on the PSP that was actually limited by the PSP.

Dissidia would've been bad anywhere. It had a generally bland combat system that would've been boring anywhere.

And other big games like BBS, P3P, God of War, are all equal to or better than console versions.
