SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote. This is the best example of SFF we've ever seen. However take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make perfect sense.

Extrapolated Standings - The mathematical "strength" of a contestant that's determined based on their performance relative to the rest of the field. This number is typically based on the contest entrant's loss, but adjustments are sometimes made. See above for a watered down explanation for how the stats are calculated.

Noble Nine - Link, Cloud, Solid Snake, Sephiroth, Mario, Crono, Sonic, Samus and Mega Man.

Half-Life 2 will probably fall a bit due to L4D's ASV strength, but even still, this is a really great performance in my opinion. I absolutely think it has a fighting chance at taking its division!

But seriously, you can like a character without liking a game. People haven't played Crisis Core, people haven't played Dissidia, and the ones who did don't really like them. I find it weird that people are saying "Oh, people didn't like MW2 much so Dissidia will win."

My point is that you have to look at the average Gamefaqs user. The average gamefaq user is big into Nintendo and Final Fantasy, not FPS. And if you have the average user have to pick a FF labeled game or Modern Warfare 2, when I'm sure the majority of the site has played neither, they will vote the FF labeled game just because of series loyalty. I don't see how this can't happen. Like I'm a big FF fan and not into FPS, so I would never consider voting for Modern Warfare 2 over Dissidia.

Plus, its a night vote. Dissidia does a lot better in Europe and Asia in those polls, and MW2 does a lot worse. Its a Halo type game in that its all North American power, so it doesn't get its ASV either. Theres just too many factors going for Dissidia here that I can't just say "Oh MW2 wins this no problem". Like I said, MW2 is the favorite and should be.... But Dissidia winning here shouldn't be a huge shock to anyone.

What was wrong with Dissidia? I was totally hooked to that game for a while (the reason I bought a PSP), and was enjoying every second of it. Since I'm a big FF fan, all the fanservice was like Heaven.

I just noticed that Allen is using the Platinum/Emerald/etc box arts for the match. If the voting choice is only for Pokemon Platinum, not Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, will it have any affect?

Since the Force Unleashed II came out, I feel like talking about this match...

I said this before in one of the stats topics, but I think that Battlefront II has the potential to beat BioShock. I have a few good reasons why.

1. It's a night match. In night matches games that are stronger in Europe tend to do better, and BFII has a very big European fanbase. In addition, once the morning vote comes in BFII is going to get much more votes. How good BioShock does will depend on how good it does in the first 6 hours of the match.

2. It is Star Wars. Shouldn't that be enough to at least give Battlefront some sort of edge. Now granted, it would need to rely on more than this to win the match, but it is something to keep in mind.

3. Many people are, in a sense, nostalgic about Battlefront II. Many people have been anxiously waiting for its sequel, which means that people really care about the game. I'm sure that many people have good memories of BFII's multiplayer and these people will help BFII because they are annoyed that Lucasarts hasn't released BFIII yet.

4. It isn't necessarily hated and has sold well. This means that the casuals will most likely vote for it. This doesn't mean that BFII has no hardcore fans, since anybody who is still playing this game's multiplayer is a true fan.

5. It was the second most played Xbox game in the late part of the Xbox's life-span. If a game can almost have as much players as Halo 2, it better be pretty popular!

Also, the vote-ins are bs. If Legend of Dragoon was actually stronger than BFII then BFII would fail to get 40% on Uncharted 2. If Legend of Dragoon could get 42% on Uncharted 2 then BFII can definitely put up a fight with BioShock.

I know that I am making a gamble, but is indeed possible.

BioShock is basically the polar opposite of flash-in-the-pan games like Gears of War and the like: while Gears started out strong and fizzled quickly, The Shock's reputation and contest strength have only improved over the years. Big Daddy looked much stronger this year than he did in '08, and while The Shock originally had great-but-not-quite-phenomenal reviews, it's now considered by many to be a true work of art. I think it'll look quite a bit better now compared to '09, and it looked okay then to begin with.

Plus, I have a hard time believing BioShock would lose to The Legend of Dragoon in a vote-in!

Half-Life 2 is the slight Guru favorite (I think?), and this match doesn't really tell us anything since it's basically Half-Life 2 SFFing another Valve game.

Of course, Half-Life 2 better look better than Prime every round going in, because if they look like equals, Prime's probably gonna beat Half-Life 2 without being threatened.

Yes, BioShock is more than your typical fps, so I knew that BFII would have a hard time winning even if it had the chance.

However, vote-ins mean nothing, and the only reason why legend of dragoon won that was because of RPGNostalgiaFAQs.
