I'm not sure how RE5's night vote and power hour compare to those, though my feeling is that it's comparable with GTA and Oblivion.

Nah, I prefer the graph with the overall percentage, because it does a better job of telling you where you're going. You just see whether you're higher on the overall percentage line now or at noon/the end of the poll.

Well, the thing about the graph with only the individual updates is that it is deceptive in making time periods with low votals appear more important. Being strong in the dead zone will show up as huge on that graph......even though in reality it's countered and then some by a much smaller-looking advantage in the power hour.

So what do we think? Any chance of enough of a comeback to at least make this interesting? Past trends show a possibility, but the current trend in European voting needs to be reversed first. Or was that also a trend that should have ended with the Power Hour?

Yeah, I took God of War over Tales without a second thought. In my opinion, GoW has a better chance of winning its division than losing to ToS/RE5.

And we have our first cut of the match. I hope this can get interesting overnight, but ToS is still rising to heaven in Europe, so unless that stops this will not get much closer for longer.

ToS has this. It's doing well in Europe thus far and ToS is about to break a 1,000-vote lead in a night-match that'll have low vote totals. Even if RE5 somehow got close, I wouldn't bet against ToS in a close match (board vote be damned).

ToS is doing almost as well in Europe as overall. I'd be surprised even in the dead hours if RE5 makes any kind of significant cutting. Maybe a few cuts here and there, but probably a stall at best.

Although RE5 is up to almost 60% in Asia and is barely winning Oceania, Europe influences the night vote far more than Asia and Oceania does. The best example of this occured in this poll:

Brown has 47.69% in North America, 36.37% in Europe, and 64.06% in Asia. Despite Asia's influence with the night vote, Brown's percentage was dropping overnight. Europe controlled the night vote far more than Asia did, and Asia couldn't do anything to stop Brown from going down overnight.

I did. I knew that there might be some interesting trend changes in that poll, because certain eye colors are more common than others in different parts of the world.

Ok, so I just got back after going on a trip for the weekend. Only match result that really surprised me was DMC only getting 65%. I thought Mother 3 had no shot to avoid the tripling, let alone avoid the doubling. What the hell happened here??

What theories did people come to based on this? Are people saying the DMC games suck or did people think Mother 3 actually has some strength. I can scarcely imagine the latter being true - seriously, Mother 3? Was this game even released in the US?

I really don't get how DMC3 got only 65% there...

I think it was mainly a combination of DMC sucking (action games have never looked good here, as Ninja Gaiden demonstrated a day earlier) and Mother actually having some "joke-ish" appeal. Its picture and name were really ridiculous. I have my doubts as to how many of the voters even knew Mother 3 was Nintendo.

But yeah, I now expect a pretty easy win for KotOR and a demolition from Prime.

Basically everyone presumed that DMC is pathetic here.

Which makes me glad I picked KoTOR, and not very confident about SFIV beating Uncharted 2. (Because I sort of based my SFIV expectations off Ryu from last contest, and if Dante/DMC are really pathetic, then Ryu's not much better coz he struggled with Dante, and that just spells bad news for SFIV against UC2 even though it had a really bad showing in its own right, and I just really want SFIV to make it to Fallout 3 because that way everyone else is losing the points I've lost from SA2 and I don't want Halo to get that far but at this point it looks inevitable and oh look I'm rambling.)

eh, KP's topic had some pretty good logic for ToS beating God of War and I bought it for a while, and then on the last day I was looking my bracket over in detail and that stuck out to me as "hey, this is horrible. change it."

wow, Resi 5 must suck.

DMC3's performance is no reason to worry about SFIV. Action game stars have always been a LOT stronger than their games. Heck, just look at the match from a few days ago. Ninja Gaiden got nearly doubled by Halo. Ten months ago, Hayabusa beat Chief easily.

And I don't mean that just because Drake sucked, UC2 would lose to LoD, but in a match with any possibility of being close against an established series, I was always going to take not-Uncharted.

It just sucks that I picked the wrong game.

I don't think it's a good idea to base these games off their characters. It's pretty clear there's a wild disparity between the popularity of the games and the popularity of the characters. Dante is significantly stronger in a character contest than Devil May Cry is in a game contest, that's always been the case from the beginning. Ryu's the same way - and Street Fighter has always struggled to do well here, though people kind of underrate it these days. UC2, on the other hand, is probably a fair bit more popular than Nathan Drake. Nothin' really conclusive there!

So everyone has basically written off UC2 (or SF4, I suppose) against Halo, correct?

Did any of the other matches for this weekend change popular outlooks for future rounds? I see that Okami had a good performance, but it's path seems pretty straightforward. And although it beat my Oracle by about 8 points, considering its opponent it's not like it was particularly surprising.
