AAA! ToS/RE5 is driving me crazy. I currently have a 6-match battle streak and am pretty confident about the next 8 (until WWF/FE) but I can't honestly pull the trigger on either of these games. I've been back and forth so much and think I just have to bank the 2100.

Same here. I relunctantly have Fails in my bracket, but I don't want to risk my points here. But I'll kick myself if I don't...

I reluctantly have RE5 in my bracket. I went with a 50.2 win for the Oracle. It (hopefully) will be our first great night match.

Why are people so worried about this match? This one won't even be close... guys, RE5 is trash. It struggled to beat Metroid Fusion! I'd take Tales of Symphonia to kill that easily... hell, I'm not even sure I'd be 100% confident taking Prime over Tales of Symphonia! ToS did beat San Andreas while Vice City beat Metroid Prime. Are people just scared to pick Tales of Symphonia due to the characters not being very strong or something?

it's got a lot of name brand recognition. the one right before it is a top contender so I'm a little worried.

It will matter some..Those are legendary and popular characters that people will be looking at before they vote.

That's fine to some degree, but against a game that nearly quadrupled it in January, there's no need to be scared.

Analysis

There’s a chance that this match might be close, but I would be pretty surprised if Tales of Symphonia was in any danger of losing this match. Resident Evil 5 was nowhere near as loved as its younger brother while Tales of Symphonia for once actually looked decent last contest.

Taking a look at the GotY and the vote-in and you see Resident Evil 5 performing badly. It was crushed by God of War II while Tales of Symphonia went neck and neck against the original. I think the biggest argument for fans of Resident Evil 5 is that they expect Tales of Symphonia to be a lot weaker in one on one compare to four-ways and while it could be true I feel that the drop would have to be pretty massive before the game feels threaten.

If Tales of Symphonia goes in as its old self it should be pushing 60%. Resident Evil 5 couldn’t quite fill the large shoes left by Resident Evil 4 and while the board may have turned its back on Tales of Symphonia last contest some people are ready to more and make up for that mistake by taking it further than it will go.
