Either
way, DMC3 never had a shot at Prime. This match just puts a huge damper
in the DMC>KotOR upset thoughts/worries, which hardly anyone really

Seriously, I don't understand the panicking. I would easily take Mother 3 to pull 60 on SO3 so this isn't too weird. I mean, I've never played either, but I know all about Mother 3, it's not localized, Lucas in Brawl, etc, and jack squat about Star Ocean. So, yeah, SO3 is just lol weak. |

Yeah, this match has the best votals of any match so far. Mother 3 has strength. Somehow. My main issue is this; if GameFAQs can mass vote a game they've never played, that never even got released outside of Japan, whose match pic is a red gradient, based on...I don't know, limited Brawl exposure, what chance does Demon's Souls have? --- DFF |

How
many of these voters even know Mother is Earthbound/Nintendo? It may be
more joke votes than anything else, which would explain the votals and
should alleviate your worries some. Still, the MM9 match pic is pretty

Maybe a lot of the votes for Mother 3 are coming from people voting for the joke box art since it's just a red square. --- No need for words, Just cast Luminaire and be done with it. |

Mother! Time to go! Yeah I had to bring that in. Also okay this IS Mother 3 being strong and not DMC3 being weak. Still this probably quells any possibility of upsetting Prime, as I thought that DMC3 would at least break 70% here. Apparently not. GameFAQs loves their RPGs. --- I have no idea how Metroid: Other M got any scores lower than 60%. |

From: machinegungeek | #458 Mother 3 is a Japan-only sequel to an already cult game. Star Ocean 3 sold fairly well, far better in the US than Mother 3 did in Japan. The fact that a game that has only been released in English via a fan translation is doing so well on the most popular game in a major series is shocking. I mean, Star Ocean is sort of mainstream for JRPGs, Mother 3 is about as cult as it gets without venturing into the realms of stuff three people have heard of. sure there are some joke votes due to the red gradient pic, but Mother

My main issue is this; if GameFAQs can mass vote a game they've never played, That's right, it's only the biggest, most hyped fan translation in the history of emulation. The translation patch was downloaded 100,000 times in the first week. But no one on GameFAQs has ever played it. Everyone is just anti-voting DMC 3 or fanboy voting for the Nintendo option. Let's
see, a great, beautifully constructed game, with an excellent story,
excellent characters, great soundtrack and good gameplay against a
mediocre action game whose difficulty relies on how quickly you can
mash buttons? I thought this contest was about nominating the best game released this decade. As far as I'm concerned, the where and how a game is released don't really affect the enjoyment any one person gets from playing said game. Mother 3 should be winning this contest. |
