I
think it was a good call on his part. Do we really want to see Nintendo
games in this division? If you group them together as best as you can
they run rampant and beat everything. Vote totals may suffer, but it

Mario Sunshine has been overrated hardcore from day 1. There is no way
that thing is going three rounds; it probably won't even make a match

I think it looks good in the very short term (first few rounds) and in these two divisions, but starts to have a more negative impact as we get later into the contest, and also out of these divisions. Right now we get two divisions pretty much devoid of Nintendo and Square, and so we can get matches like this. Later on though, we have most of the stronger games meet each other in the late-middle rounds. With the exception of Melee/Brawl v FFX, it just feels like most of the big matches will have occurred relatively early compared to where they would have been if they had been divided up better. Melee v Brawl a Division Final? KH v KH2 not even that? Sure, by doing that, you get more diversity in the later rounds, but on the other hand, it's forcing some of the top games to get eliminated much earlier, and in some cases, makes the only big/interesting match for the loser be the match it lost, which being an SFF match, isn't going to seem as good. I mean, take Melee/Brawl. The loser there stands a good chance of failing to break 45%. So what do we learn from that match? Whoever lost isn't going to have been challenged before hand. All we'll be able to even try and learn from it is how they performed on much weaker competition. I understand why Bacon forced all those matches, I just don't think it was the best idea. I'm not complaining about it too much though, taking out the divisions by generations almost certainly makes up for that easily, IMO. --- xp1337: Don't you wish there was a spell-checker that told you when you a word out? I'm hoping Mario Sunshine has more Mario Galaxy trends and has a bad day vote! But really, it's the later morning that has ASV trends. I've been saying this for a while because the morning vote on the weekend is a mini-ASV, which means the best possible situation if Halo 3 has to have a night match. Donkey Kong kept gaining on MC all the way til 11 in their match, albeit DK is really popular in Europe for whatever the reason, IIRC. MC's day vote in that match, didn't start kicking in big time, until after Halo 3/SMS would be over. --- "Ahem! this hate is coming from, except from people who hate on Nintendo in

KP is right. TP has fallen off since its release and so, assumedly, has Brawl. Galaxy has obviously gone over a cliff. the Wii fanbase seems to have simply disappeared. all I'm saying is that if that nostalgic Gamecube audience is still here, they might, for whatever reason, have fond memories of this mess of a game. --- xyzzy |

I don't understand the confidence in Galaxy to do that. Why? Brawl crushed Galaxy way worse than Melee crushed Wind Waker, for cryin' out loud. And Pokemon D/P/P LFF probably wasn't very severe.
