You could have replaced Mario with an N64 game with much more of an SFF tie-in to Nintendo, like Star Fox 64, and Mario would have beaten CT more easily. Goldeneye sapped enough of the N64 fanbase to make Mario 64 struggle. It had no reason to struggle after winning so easily the previous round. Mario 64 went from 51.81% on CT to 51.13% on CT with GoldenEye in the poll. That's not a significant difference. The vote differential came primarily from Mario 64 and CT being the 2nd and 3rd strongest games by a wide margin instead of being the 1st and 2nd strongest games by a wide margin. --- "Hold on a minute! SF4 breaks 1,000+, I'll feel great. 1,200+ and I'll call it. Until then
though, we just don't know enough about either of these games and how

It is very significant when you consider that CT had FFVII going against it in the later poll. FFVII was getting 3 times the votes Goldeneye was getting- so roughly speaking, Mario 64/GE overlap was more than 3 times as strong as FFVII/CT overlap. If you think Mario 64 is actually worth more than 52% on CT because it was getting LFF'd by Yoshi's Island in round 2, Mario 64/GE overlap becomes even higher. Plus, Mario 64 was at the top of SFF while CT was at the bottom- making FFVII a heavier weight and Goldeneye a lesser weight yet again. There were good reasons why people were taking the upset in round 3 but not round 2- and it still puzzles me that CT did better in round 3. I have my own pet CT/SOTN SFF theory of course that has no proof. --- Nominate Crono so he can get a higher seed and avoid being fed to Clinkeroth early in the contest. |

People just get so attached to throwing abbreviations around for every weird match that they're not even thinking anymore. The 360 and PS3 are played by so many people with so many varying tastes that you have to find two games that are really similar to each other in order to get some SFF/LFF from them. FFVII
and CT are the 2 biggest RPGs on the site, they're both made by Square,
and they were released 2 years apart. It's really hard for me to
believe there's no LFF between them. There may be very little SFF
between them, but that's not evidence there's no LFF. Hmm....Vincent went down about 2% on Samus with Ganon/Gordon were replaced with Pikachu/Crono. Pikachu did considerably better on Samus too than Ganon, so that difference is probably attributable to Crono/Vincent LFF. --- Nominate Crono so he can get a higher seed and avoid being fed to Clinkeroth early in the contest. |

I had SF4 going to the division finals. I'm pretty sure only like 5 of
you play fighting games that dont have "Super Smash" in the its title.
If you guys would have only SEEN what S/SF4 have done for the fighting
game community this would have been an easy pick for you guys (Plus SF4
rocking Uncharted's face too) Grant it, I took Uncharted 2 to go to the division finals instead which is pretty silly on my part (Should've just bit the bullet and picked the winner of the SMS/Halo match instead, buit I figured UC2 was the safest pick, LOL). Its weird with UC2 and pretty much the entire GTA series on this site. isn't winning a single continent now. South America and Asia are
favoring SFIV heavily, while NA/Europe/Oceania are either tied or
favoring SFIV very slightly. I suppose when it's this close in NA and

Woah,
I just saw how many states Fable actually won last night. Interesting
that the support for RB2 and TF2 mirrored election maps in a way. Not sure if this has been commented on, or is obvious, so forgive me if it is, but I would guess that multiplayer games due better in "liberal" states not due to cultural reasons, but b/c those states tend to be urbanized, college towns (helps out local multiplayer) and more wired (helps out online multiplayer) I would expect SMS Vs. Halo 3 to be the exception that proves the rule however, as New England/Mid-Atlantic tends to go for Nintendo big time, and Xbox ownership is higher in the South than in the rest of the country, at least on GameFAQS. --- "Ahem! more comment: the Samus/Crono/Vincent/Pikachu match had really really
low votals, despite being such a close match. 2 Noble Niners, Noble
Nine Challenger #1, and a strong midcarder, and it got bad bad votals.
It's the sign of there being significant LFF rather than no LFF flying
around to me (though I grant the possibility of Samus/Crono LFF due to
