Because a quality game does not a popular game make. Don't act all high and mighty because you were part of the 30% who got a 1-point match right. Without any definite trend information on Rock Band 2, you were guessing just like the rest of us, you just happened to be right this time around.

I don't think I'm anything special, I always do lousy in these contests. I'm just shocked that so few people went with Deus Ex. It wasn't an unpopular game by any stretch of the imagination and it was so absurdly acclaimed that I'm sure it's pulling down most of the votes from people who haven't played either simply because they've heard it's supposed to be absurdly good.


This isn't a pure popularity contest, it's supposed to be about choosing the BEST game. Now, I don't expect the majority of the users on this site have the context to rate that accurately, but I would expect that widespread acclaim should provide games with at least a minor boost here.


The battle I think will be really interesting is Halo 3 / Mario Sunshine. Mario Sunshine is a terrible game that has no business being in this contest, but for Nintendo fans it probably looks like a more appealing choice than Halo 3 (for the record, I'm a lifelong Nintendo fan and I'll be voting Halo. SMS does not deserve to make it out of the first round). That's one that I think will be really hard to guess.

Xbox games do better with the ASV because they are more popular in America. If TF2 remains in the lead in America, it should be able to stop Fable from building up a lead.

Well, that's true with Halo at least and other Xbox games like Gears of War. Those games just happen to be shooters, while Fable is a RPG. We've seen very few Xbox games in contests outside of the shooters/FPSes.

People went against Deus Ex because it was in the last contest and did horribly. That's why we thought it was unpopular. We weren't basing this on nothing. RB2 still would have been the favorite had 2009 not happened, but Deus Ex would have had more support.

I nominated both Fable and TF2, so I was torn when voting. But I had to help out my already imperfect bracket. Voted TF2.

I switched to Uncharted on the last day on the advice of this topic, but I feel better about having had Legend of Dragoon now. I thought both Deus Ex and Fable had good winning chances, while this topic/board thought they were clear-cut, so it's becoming increasingly apparent that the consensus means very little on matches between unknowns.
