Anecdotal evidence is bad, and a lot of this debate is conjecture based on that. Really nothing can be said on Brawl vs Melee that has any merit. This choice just have to be on your gut, and you can't really blame or condemn either side if you're a reasonable person.

The only people I've ever seen hate on Brawl, or prefer Melee, are on Board 8 or play tourney Smash. I've got 5 real-life friends making brackets, and they all picked Brawl, and were dumbfounded that Melee was the favourite here.

First off, congratulations on having 'real-life' friends. But really now, they old, " Well my friend said.."argument? Hahaha

I've played competitive smash and it's pretty centered around Brawl.

I mean, everyone loves Melee, and there are those that prefer it, but in the end Brawl is the main thing people play.

I've been playing Melee with local friends since it came out (since I've been playing the original before it), but it wasn't until Brawl that I got into the competitive crowd.
While since then I've learned to play the other two games the same way, Brawl is what got me and lots of people into that crowd, and it's the main choice of play.

How long more till brackets lock?

So, I'm curious: what are you guys expecting from God of War? I think it's a really interesting wild-card: it could lose in Round One to Left 4 Dead, or it could make it as far as the Quarterfinals, winning its weak division Scorpion-style.

I currently have it losing to Half-Life 2 in my bracket; though I can't lie, GoW > HL2 has been tempting me since day one. I doubt I'll go for it in the end, though.

I honestly am like 55-45 on HL2 > GoW. I definitely have HL2 losing to Metroid Prime but yeah I think it won't do poorly on HL2.

My honest opinion: if God of War gets past Half-Life 2, it'll get past Metroid Prime as well. Kind of sucks to admit it - I love Metroid Prime, and I'm still tempted to take it far out of pure fanboyism. But looking at it objectively, I don't think I could honestly take MP over GoW, especially since GoW2 did so well in the vote-ins.

ToS had extremely fortunate bracket placement... and it still only beat God of War by less than 300 votes. One-on-one, I highly doubt ToS has a shot, but that's just me.
