FFX got 53.4% on RBY w/ OoT w/ Melee. MGS w/ FFVIII got 48% on RBY w/ OoT. Taking RBY w/ OoT w/ Melee to equal RBY w/ OoT, FFX gets 55.3% on MGS. FFX got 52.4% on MGS4. The
only issues I have left are MGS3v4 and Portal/FF12 vs Mass Effect. Mass
Effect could be the one game ever where a new release boosts the
original by a ton, since you're basically required to play 1 to fully
understand 2. I'd bet over 90% of ME2 fans played or rented (or
whatever) the first game to get the full story. MGS3 v 4 is a total crapshoot. 3 got weaker as last contest went along, 4 got stronger. you can take a reading off FFX w/ MGS4 v. OoT w/ Brawl and MGS w/
FFVIII v. OoT w/ RBY, like charmander did, and get a totally different

Mass
Effect will probably have boosted a lot, but I think going from where
it was in 09 to beating the stronger of Portal/FFXII will be a bridge

Mass
Effect will look significantly better than last contest. I fully
expected Fallout 3 SFF'd it hard... they're both major WRPGs from this
gen. Getting Fallout 3 out of there would do nothing but help it. I am
a big fan of both, but would vote for Fallout 3 every day over it for

Or you can use the other FFX match that included a MGS-title and only two Nintendo titles. MGS got 35.11% on OoT with RBY and FFVIII FFX got 34.59% on OoT with SSBB and MGS4 Now it becomes which Nintendo title hurt OoT more and which MGS/FF title hurt FFX/MGS more. MGS does have some breathing room to work with too. Hey
guys- how does the entry into the Guru contest work? Hate to sound like
a noob, but even though I have done 5 contest now, I never tried
playing the Guru contest... I did the sign-up sheet already. Does the
Guru contest pull our picks directly from GF or is there some way of us

Yeah,
I mentioned last topic that Mass Effect has every reason to boost
significantly. Just look at how Shephard performed last contest on the
heels of ME2. Sure Pikachu was probably inflated somewhat, but I was
impressed enough that I've been considering taking ME for the upset
over FF12. |

Brawl
really looked better last time, and I think Brawl will get some votes
from Metal Gear and Sonic fans. They're probably very equal in contest
strengh, though one might actually SFF the other to the ground. Older
games might do better, they useally do, but I went with Brawl in the
end anyways. People keep saying Brawl looked stronger last time, but I don't see it. Someone explain how Brawl looked stronger last time. |

I'll
ask again: how far behind HL2 is Portal, really? Portal was the star of
the Orange Box, which Gordon needed before he finally became
respectable here. Portal beat Bioshock and Halo 3, neither of which are
jokes. Portal got 36.55%/36.87% on MGS4 while HL2 got 39.8%/39.06% on
LoZ:TP. That means Portal get 45.92% to 47.2% on HL2 as of last
year...and that's without considering the millions of Portal-copies
given away this year, Steam making the move to Macs, and any rising
hype for Portal 2. Portal's getting closer to HL2, count on that. FF12 got 47.78% on HL2 though, so that's scary. That said, Portal seemed to take a bigger drop in the day than FF12 did, so -- since it's a night-match -- Portal may hold up better than FF (weird to think about). dont' know if it has to do with anything but the guys on Screwattack
made a list with the 10 best local multiplayer consoles games only,and

I think Portal is the strongest Valve game now. Its got more than twice
as many owners now than last contest due to the free give away from

not sure what to think of Portal. Out of all the games from the last
contest, it's got the most reason to boost (Yes, more than ME1, I'm
still skeptical about what kind of boost it's going to get from the

forget that Commander Shepard got 38% with Mass Effect 2 just coming
out, it's like what Halo 3 did for Master Chief. Run that poll again
and Pikachu probably performs a lot better. I dunno about that. For both to be close, TP would have to = MGS4. It may have beaten TP in that one match, but it does have room for an LFF argument because of how much MGS4 got owned by Brawl before hand. TP got 47% on Brawl last contest and while MGS4 performed pretty badly against SSBB you kind of have to take a step back and see that Brawl stuck out like a sore thumb in that whole division, minus SMG. MGS4 did perform pretty decently against FFX in the semi-finals. You could say CoD4 does worse because Galaxy left the picture. Fallout 3 only faced Brawl once so there's no comparison to "worse". MGS4 does a percent and some change worse. Not really all that bad. --- *is Dranze* Dr. Football swept me. |

Man,
today's poll has sucky vote totals. I know the "Have you entered the
__________ contest yet?" polls have historically had bad vote totals,
because not a single one has gotten above 70000 votes. Still, I don't
think the vote totals in this poll could be significantly hurt by the
fact that this poll started one hour late (due to poll problems). It took 6 hours for this poll to break 10000 votes. remember that new Square characters seemed to degrade last contest,
giving an argument for FFXII declining. Then if Portal really has so
much reason to increase... I ended up changing my bracket pick to Portal > FFXII just because it should happen. --- I have no idea how Metroid: Other M got any scores lower than 60%. |

Melee beat FFX before the retarded Nintendo boosts, I'm inclined to
agree with Soul. The winner of Brawl/Melee (aka Brawl) is essentially
the winner of the contest, barring something weird and out of left
