contest it seems that FFXII was stronger than Portal and I'm surprised

Well Metroid Prime was the only answer in that poll while SMS hate was pretty big back then until people just forgot about it. what I know Super Mario Sunshine got boatloads of critical acclaim when
it was released (in fact at Gamerankings it's 2% above SSBM), but then
was quick to receive backlash from fans afterwards. --- I have no idea how Metroid: Other M got any scores lower than 60%. |

don't think people have forgotten about Sunshine. It's not one of those
things where its legacy has just blown over. And this thing isn't going
to be anywhere close to Galaxy, so I'm not sure why we think it can

Crisis
Core and Dissidia are certainly wildcards. Conventional wisdom is that
they'll be weak due to being handhelds, but both have equally valid
arguments for being strong enough to do some damage. Not sure what to
think there yet. |

Dissidia's probably a wildcard to some extent, sure, but it's not nearly wild enough for it to beat last year's GotY: http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=3726 Combine all the Square-options and MW2 still nearly doubles them; heck, DA:O still beats them combined...and it's not like Dissidia dominated those other Square-options, either. Yeah, not even anti-votes got Uncharted 2 or DA:O that
close to it in the final-GotY...and Dissidia was tripled and doubled by
them respectively. Those GotY-polls are just nine months old, too, so
its age can't come into question. Sure, you can bring up the
differences we saw between SSBB/MGS4 from the GotY to BGE2...and you're
more than welcome to use that same logic of "Screw recent GotY-polls"

wouldn't take anything from the MW/Halo 3 poll. MW probably SFF'd Halo
3 to a large degree. The fanbases of those two games are virtually the

I'm
still flipflopping on TF2/Fable and SA2/SF4. I'm leaning on Fable,
because its done so well in every poll, plus Fable 3 comes out this
month(although the match will be long over before then), and the only
time we saw Team Fortress 2 was getting its ass whooped by LFF'd SMG1.
But who knows? And I remember Sonic 1 > SF2, and both SA2/SF4 are weaker than their predecessors, so maybe the same result will happen! --- "if only there were some way I could have sex" - Smartmuffin |

Fable
got quintupled by Halo 2 in '04 (GOTY poll). Somehow I doubt this site
cares about it much. TF2 at least made the '09 contest and 'only' got
doubled by DPP. I've gone for SFIV against SA2. It's a match I hate though, and I could see anything happening. SFIV got doubled by GTAIV in '09 (I'd say this is more important than that it was level with Persona 4... we at least have some idea of how strong GTAIV is). I worry about SA2 being in literally one poll since '03, and in it, whilst it had the disadvantage of already being ported to the Gamecube, it didn't leap out to the site much more than PSO and Shenmue. Yeah,
after looking at those polls I'm thinking there's a high possibility
that even if SA2 were at its peak, it's obviously not aged well. Street

wait, why is MW2 insanely hated? because it's popular and casual? probably cuz they changed a bunch of stuff I just asked my brother, who has in excess of 200 hours playtime with CoD4 (and has played MW2 for about 20 hours), and he said it's a combination of the kill-streak bonuses being overpowered, you don't take nearly enough damage, and spawncamping/other griefing. Disclaimer: I have less than one hour combined with those two games, so I have no idea if this is accurate. --- Guru Status: Not last. www.rpgdl.com - Because everybody loves violent arena battles, right? |

My
first instinct was to have Uncharted 2 lose to Legend of Dragoon, based
on how well it did in the vote-in poll. Looking at those GOTY polls, U2
looks to be somewhere around the level of Halo 3. Pretty much all the
vote-in winners did well in the last contest, while Drake did pretty
badly, so...... --- Crono > Sephiroth. 7 years of waiting, and perhaps many more to go. Remain steadfast. |

I'm
hesitant to fall back on Uncharted 2 because Drake sucked it up in the
CB. We've already seen time and time again that character =/=
games(although I find it odd in this case, since Nathan Drake is one of
my favorite video game protagonists and a big reason why I love UC2).
