What other RE games would be in the bracket?

Aside from RE5, I think REMake could easily get in. Even Code Veronica has a fair shot, as that was one of the Dreamcast's biggest games and sold a few million when it was later ported to the PS2.

The more I think about it, the more I'm worried about this "diversity" business. No attempts to make the contest diverse have ever worked, period. Not to mention the fact that the final rounds of this contest would probably be the most diverse company wise anyway, at least when compared to 2009. No series is likely to get more than two games into the Sweet Sixteen so why worry about it?

Why set up say FFX/FFIX and TP/WW when you could just set up FFX/WW and TP/FFIX instead? It's not like the winners would ever be doubt either way. And if that's not what he's talking about I don't know what Bacon means by eliminating setting up rivals.

And Melee/Brawl meeting up in the Sweet Sixteen would be stupid as ****.

Yeah, essentially creating SFF matches has the potential for disaster, but a game like FFIX or Wind Waker isn't going to do much of anything in the long run anyway.

The final 8 would not be Nintendo and Square, and I would rather have a Final 8 consisting of games that people care about and are passionate about than a "diverse" one for the sake of diversity.

Changing a Nintendo/Nintendo match and a Square/Square match to two Nintendo/Square matches gives the same result of only two Nintendo/Square games advancing but without the SFF, likely higher votals and maybe even more difficult to predict.

FF9 has potential to do a lot of damage in the right spot. I'm okay with sacrificing one of two KH games that look to be about equal strengthwise, but don't do that to FF9. it has NEVER had a chance to shine -- Crono/Zidane, FF9/Chrono Cross/Half-Life, FF9/FF8, etc.

I'm cool with Brawl/Melee early so long as it's not round 3 or something like that. FFX is going to have to eliminate some Square games at some point so if one gets sacrificed it's not exactly a huge crime. I would just rather it wasn't FF9.

even Vivi's gotten screwed in the past. Vivi/Tidus/Pikachu, Vivi/Sephiroth. Zidane has been looking better as of late but I think it's just because he's not being saddled down with other RPG characters for once.

I really think FF9 could ultimately be a top 15 game in this contest. it's a clear step below the MGS3s and KHs of the world, but it could be right behind them. I wouldn't feel too good about picking a Majora's Mask or a Galaxy or a Fallout 3 over it.

Yeah, LoZ:WW has only one LoZ-game (or really, just one game) it should face: LoZ:MM. I'm sure there are other good matches for it, but give us that in Round 3 and I think you have a real winner.

I disagree about the upset-potential involving FF9/LoZ:WW big-time; RE4 was barely behind LoZ:TP two out of three battles abd MGS4 was barely behind FFX. I know FF9 and LoZ:WW were always caught in SFF/LFF-situations and four-ways should be taken with a grain of salt, but there's nothing very reasonable about FF9 being just under FFX or LoZ:WW being just under LoZ:TP.

That said, I could enjoy RE4/MGS4 one-on-one instead of a four-way, and FF9/LoZ:WW could be a good match.
