Indeed, from the weekday match they had last year: SSBM's percentage on FFX, 1st 12 hours: 34.97% SSBM's percentage on FFX, 2nd 12 hours: 40.92% This is a match that could potentially be really close with 24 hours, and not even contested in either a day or night match. --- Crono > Sephiroth. 7 years of waiting, and perhaps many more to go. Actually,
looking at the trends between FFX and SSBM/SSBB last contest, the one
with the wider swing was FFX, not SSB. Even in round 3 with KH in the
poll, FFX almost beat SSBM outright with the morning vote. Melee got
56.86% during the DSV, but FFX dropped nearly 5% while Melee rose a
little more than 3%. Looking at the overall trends though, that appears
to have been a weekend match. *checks* Yep, it was. The second match and the match with SSBB are a bit unfair since there's an OoT in the way, but FFX drops harder than SSB rises, looking at it. --- "So cold. I am always by your side." "There ain't no gettin' off of this train we on!" |

Presumably
FFX drops more than SSBM rises because the other games in the poll, OOT
and RBY, are also heavily day-oriented. The weekend match is very

Well,
Melee doesn't really rise a lot with the ASV in their one weekday match
either, but then again, it's dealing with Zelda and Pokemon at the same
time. Still, fair point. Looking at FFX's first two matches, it was relatively well balanced against MGS2, Silent Hill 2, and Morrowind (all of which are pretty night-oriented games), and it didn't drop as bad against Kingdom Hearts, though Kingdom Hearts spiked higher than FFX fell. --- http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/2369/mythbattlers.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/Sensui22/1248835958206.png |

Well,
what really matters as far as an SSBM/FFX match goes is the difference
between them. SSBM rose 2.01% against FFX from 3 PM (not noon, but the
start of the ASV) to the end in the weekday match. That match got 130k
votes in all, and had 84k at 3 PM. Supposing FFX vs. SSBM 1v1 got the same number of votes, that means that the break even point for a comeback at 3 PM would be around 3400. --- Crono > Sephiroth. 7 years of waiting, and perhaps many more to go. Remain steadfast. |

FFX
vs. SSBM doesn't strike me as having any chance since they're the top 4
noms. I expect Bacon to separate them until the semis at least. now FFX vs. Brawl, that's a possibility. --- xyzzy |

don't want to see FFX, Brawl, or Melee face each other until the semis.
I want to get a fair read between Brawl and Melee, and that'll be
difficult if FFX faces Brawl in the Elite Eight in a night match. Although I guess Brawl and Melee can face each other any time, and it wouldn't really matter. Still want it to be a semifinal match though. I do think Bacon's clever enough to set up a Brawl/Melee semifinal with the winner vs. FFX though. While
I expect SSBM/FFX to have a large vote swing I would be surprised if
SSBM came back being that far behind. Chalk it up to 4-ways being

Yeah,
I doubt FFX will meet Melee or Brawl until the semifinals, although
remember, we did get FFVII/CT/FFVI/LTTP set up before, so who knows.
Melee could meet Brawl in the elite 8 and it would be fine; trends

ideal bracket in my mind: FFX Pokemon GSC Twilight Princess MGS4 Melee RE4 Brawl KH2 we get a 24 hour FFX/TP match (or MGS4 if it pulls the upset), Melee/Brawl with the winner facing FFX. and there's always upsets to consider too if you're feeling risky. --- xyzzy |

know, I'm with Big Bob. Resident Evil 4 deserves the title "game of the
decade" more than any other game from the decade. I'll be pulling for
it and SSBM hard. Brawl or FFX is the favorite though, and easily. My thoughts exactly. There are plenty of games I like more than RE4, but no other game winning would make me fist pump and go "aw yeah". I mentioned RE4 in casual conversation to a friend who hadn't played it. Once I found out, it became our duty to make him play it ASAP. It's now one of his favorite games ever. Melee can't be in RE4's division, they're both Top Four! Yeah, rooting for RE4 as well though the chances of it winning is probably close to zero. Let's hope that MGS3 will be put in as a 2nd or 3rd seed in Mario Galaxy Division. MGS3 winning a division, here we go. |

Having
horrible shooting mechanics with the behind the shoulder angle (could
never understand how people could play a full game like that) and
having a cheap B-movie type story weren't really enough to get my
interest. Maybe it got better story wise, but I wouldn't even be able

all the potential winners of this contest, RE4 is probably the most
deserving. It was wildly influential, it was innovative, it revitalized
an entire series, it sold well, it hit every major console demographic,
and -- most importantly -- it was a great game. Not gonna find all of

Also,
the other major game you're probably thinking about was Twilight
Princess. I gave up on that like 30 minutes in cuz I got annoyed by how
slow it started. But I'm not really a Zelda fan to begin with so I
didn't really have much interest in it outside of just seeing why
people liked it so much.. but couldn't get myself to play long enough
to find out. In general though Nintendo games don't hold my interest.

So,
realistically - what other games do you guys think will receive one
seeds? I'm pretty confident that Pokemon GSC will receive one, but
other than that, I'm not sure at all. Brawl, MGS4 and Halo would
probably be my other choices, but I'm not confident in any of them. --- Watch Fox's RUNNING WILDE, airing Tuesdays at 9:30 EST! Will Arnett and Keri Russell in the same show - how can you top that?!? |

actually not that confidence GSC will receive one. I feel like it might
get forgotten in the shuffle as a 2000s game. Plus, it's competing with
other Pokemon games for seeding. Not that it stopped FFX from being the
