I did the same thing yesterday, predicting Wii Sports to beat Umineko and CoD2. I had to retry it today right before the poll, but I got it mostly right!

Worse, actually. As a fan of music games, Guitar Hero 2 is known as the pinnacle of them. Maybe Rock Band will get some casual support, but at least among the fans of the genre, Guitar Hero 2 will be the most popular.

Guitar Hero 3 was the beginning of the end for that series, with Neversoft taking over development after Harmonix bolted after GH2 to make Rock Band. There is absolutely no way GH3 would be stronger. Nobody likes GH3 the most among GH fans. Its all about GH2.

You can't look at "fans of the genre" when deciding what's more popular, or else you'd get something like Majora's Mask being stronger then OoT.

As far as GH/RB, GH3 is the most popular with RB2 right behind it.

This is completely true, but that doesn't change the fact that GH3 was huge for that franchise and became the most popular among casual fans of those types of games. It had the most known songs, and had a huge advertising push behind it. GH2 was the breakout game, sure, but the songs weren't liked by casuals (they were loved by the hardcores).

Hm, the fact that GH3 was on every console vs. just PS2 and 360 for GH2 may give it an edge. But I still would be shocked if GH3 would be able to beat out GH2.

I doubt we'll see GH3, though. GH2 because of the more hardcore fanbase is the one I'd imagine would get more nominations, and if that is relegated to the vote ins, it doesn't mean good things for GH3.

GHIII having more popular songs probably does give it the edge, although I wouldn't rule out Rock Band (1 or 2. I doubt there's much of a difference between them). That's a huge party game.

RB2 is more popular than RB1 so I'm pretty sure it stole all of RB1's votes.

GH3 is the most popular GH game so it should be in the contest, unless RB2 really stole all the music game support.

I would like to say no, but SCII was one of the few multiplayer games where it was sold the most on the Gamecube.


I also feel confident that GHIII would win over GHII though I would take both RB games to win over GHIII.
