Leon,
he did. Getting beaten badly by Vivi is still way better than getting
crushed by Mr. All Outta Gum by a mile. We know X-stats are meaningless
in Altair's case due to how Sonic's fodderization makes him look weaker

Also, keep in mind that Bacon didn't say, "These are the 1 seeds." Let's not try to read too much into this! It would be quite unfair if he doesn't make them 1 seeds though, especially after telling everyone that they were the most nominated games. Lots of SMG underestimation in this topic. It won't be the strongest game, but it's not losing early unless it runs into something strong. quite as low. Would you take Frog, 2010 Frog, to fail at beating Duke?
I wouldn't, for sure, not until Forever comes out at least. There's no
way Liquid's fallen harder than Frog, what with CT's age and the
disappearence of stuffed votes. And going back to our main point, Charmander kind of summed it up: new game, attention raised for the original, and since this is games we're talking about, the advantage of being older and thus more respected/loved. SMG is not going to fall in Round 1, and certainly not Round 2 either unless it's 8/9 seed is Kingdom Hearts or something. --- Placeholder anti-capslock sig. |

I cannot believe people are surprised by RE4 as a 1 seed. Name me 8 games that deserve a 1 seed above RE4. Galaxy, Brawl, Melee, MGS4 and Twilight Princess are the only ones you could objectively say deserve it, though I would argue RE4 is more important than Brawl and Twilight. And then maybe a couple among Metroid Prime, a God of War, a Mass Effect, World of Warcraft, Rock Band, Call of Duty 4, a Guitar Hero, Fallout 3, BioShock, Portal, the original Halo and GTA: San Andreas. RE4 is top 3 as im concerned it pretty much revived the series in a way that got tons of people who didn't even play RE games into them no other game in the last 10 years that i know of has had that kind of effect on a series besides maybe FFVII --- "I need more than just one intervention"- Rusty |

Galaxy
absolutely got dicked over by the format last year, and it's been in
very few legitimate polls. When it doesn't have to deal with Pokemon or

And Link. But not Jay Solano - even DNF has its limits on how much it can boost someone. But if you're discussing the most important games of the decade, RE4 is definitely in the top 8. The problem, Ulti, is that this isn't necessarily a contest for the most important games. It just surprises me that people are scared about Brawl not doing well but thinking Galaxy is exempt at the same time. It's a case of lower expectations. Hardly anyone is seriously considering that Galaxy has a shot to win the whole thing. consider the Galaxy series to be really weird as there's really no way
for it to be as weak as it showed last contest. It was really popular
and well received by the critics and gamers. This site may not like
Mario as much as the general population, but to be as weak as it showed
there and nowhere near the strength of other Mario games doesn't make
sense to me. I think with time the popularity of that game will go up. Add in the fact that Galaxy 2 is very new and fresh on everyone's mind (as opposed to FFXIII which is new but no one's really talking about it anymore), I definitely see Galaxy being stronger than before. I'm not saying it's one of the favorites to win the contest or anything, but it should advance a couple of rounds if another strong game doesn't get horribly underseeded. --- Good Times, Great Memories |
