Zelda is dominant in its power base in North America. Favorite Square-Enix Series http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=3996&map=1 I like the colors on this map. Totally
random interjection, but how does one become a contest "guru?" I
finished in the top 1.5% or so (ahead of half the gurus) in the last

From: red sox 777 | #408 What has become of the motherland. Based on this result, I might take Devil May Cry over AC. DMC has a lot more console overlap here, and things are pretty close between the two as it is. Also, not sure if characters will be the focus of most pics, but it's hard to out-cool Dante, even when you're Altair (who couldn't out-cool Duke Nukem). --- Yoblazer: http://i43.tinypic.com/25z1non.jpg Watch and you'll see... some day I'll be... part of your world! |

I'm
not sure I buy big PS2 overlap because of the sheer variety and
diversity of the console. It's not like the N64 which had 5 popular
games that everyone who owned the system played. The PS2 had so much stuff available for it. --- "I couldn't stand a day without a past or future. I need to live each moment to keep fighting here and now." |

LeonhartFour | Posted 9/28/2010 12:49:20 AM | message detail |
From: PartOfYourWorld | #418 I suppose it depends on how you look at it. Phoenix had 52.20% against Jecht at the end of the board vote and 49.28% at the end of the first hour. Against Gordon, he had 51.39% at the end of the board vote, and 47.20% at the end of the first hour. In 2007 round 1, he had 32.36% at the end of the board vote and 29.21% at the end of the first hour. In 2008 round 1, he had 27.92% at the end of the board vote and 26.98% at the end of the first hour. His night vote was actually pretty stable that year. It was during the day when he really collapsed. PW1 was really frontloaded in the Games Contest. 17.29% at the end of the board vote and 13.48% at the end of the first hour. Night vote was relatively the same percentage with an even worse day vote collapse. So Phoenix's night vote has become more stable, but his day vote should still be atrocious. Jecht probably could've seriously pushed for 54-55% against PW in a 24 hour match. --- Support Barret Wallace (Final Fantasy VII) for Character Battle IX! http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/3834/banner1barret.jpg |

also,
I agree with the idea that this is now a 128 bracket. maybe there'll be
a week delay, but that's great because we get a full contest. maybe I'm
reaching here but that means 12 hour matches are confirmed too unless
we go back to fourways which won't really make much sense. --- xyzzy |

it feels like a safe bet that the contest is 128 games, 12 hour matches

I
wonder if we will get 6 vote-in polls like last time or less (can't be
more, right). If there are 6, then the bracket will come next week at
the earliest. Is that enough time for a 128 1v1 12h bracket before
Bacon's Christmas holiday? Maybe the surprise is... that the finals
will be one week long like GameSpot but you can vote every day or
something >_> --- Clannad love! www.board8.wikia.com |

I wonder if we will get 6 vote-in polls like last time or less (can't be more, right). I think we would have 6 vote-in polls. Having 4 vote-in polls means the last vote-in would be run on Friday. Bacon can't release a bracket until the polls are all finished, which means no bracket until Saturday at the earliest. But there's no way Bacon will release a bracket on Saturday, because he doesn't do anything on the weekends. So it would be very likely that we get 6 vote-in polls. 3 vote-in polls means the last one would be run on Thursday, but that's too few polls. If there are 6, then the bracket will come next week at the earliest. Is that enough time for a 128 1v1 12h bracket before Bacon's Christmas holiday? It would be likely be October 4th that a bracket is released, so I imagine the bracket entry phase could still last for like 2 weeks and we could still finish the contest before Christmas. We would need to start this contest by like October 20th to finish before Christmas. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as Dr_Football, Guru Champ! |

This
poll's so lop-sided when you look at AC and DMC compared to the field;
they're both beating MMX's record of 17.21% from the last contest,
where his closest competition was HK-47 (13.41%) and the weakest
opponent was Jade Curtis (4.42%). This will also likely be the first
time only two options finish over ten percent, and Killer 7's got a
shot at being the second to end under 3% (Emil from ToS had 2.89% last
year). Considering AC's beating PW3 about like FF12 beat PW:AA, AC and
DMC should have some strength...but certainly nothing to write
home about. I wouldn't take FF12 to beat most 2000-2009 games that
advanced past the first round, afterall, and if we were to treat the
vote-ins like they're precise (haha!) and assume PW:AA > PW3, that's
not good news for today's games. They'll be at a major disadvantage
against any game we'd feel deserves a high seed. They'll have to count
on some lucky draws... ...which isn't impossible if people based many of their noms on more recent games rather than researching what older games they liked came out this decade instead of the 90s. Even if they don't catch that kind of break, a few characters like The Boss got lucky draws anyway last contest. DMC and especially AC should be among the highest percentages too, so perhaps SB will look more favorably to them against the weaker high-seeds. Whatever the case, it's not looking good for them without some weaker games being highly nominated. It's still weird seeing Shadow Hearts beat three games and being under a hundred votes from beating a fourth one, too...that made the Series Contest somehow, I know, but still, crazy. --- Nominate Epona the very first chance you get! http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/3492/eponaharr.jpg |

From: -LusterSoldier- | #436 I want to agree on the premise, but I think many games released in 2000-2002 or so would have kept many people from immediately realizing they should be eligible like they would with games from 2007-2009. you might be right about that. If it does make it into a vote-in, I

enough nominations to make it to a vote-in, and Wind Waker and Twilight
