More or less. PW3's only outdoing three characters' percentages who advanced past the vote-ins right last contest though despite being in third place, so -- assuming SB's just looking for raw percentages across the polls and does six days' worth of vote-ins again -- I wouldn't expect more than three games from this poll to reach the bracket (and PW3 isn't exactly safe, especially if it keeps falling).

I still feel strongly that Bacon takes the top 4 + best 5th placers. It's unfair to games where two strongish games just dominate the poll while in other polls the field is more leveled.

Either way I'm satisfied with the top 4 today being the strongest from this poll. I wanted to see World of Goo in the bracket though I knew it would be pretty weak. The only problem is the lack of variety as we're likely to see DMC3, ACII, PW and L4D in the bracket or at least in the vote-ins.

Extremely short prediction period. Bacon shouldn't have to push back the "Got Console?" polls (we get those every year on the day after Christmas) or the GotY polls if he can get this contest started by October 20th or so. Starting this contest on October 20th means the contest will end on December 21st with the final match, if you go with a standard 63 day contest.

PW3 continues dropping. Looking at last year's vote-ins, the only entrants that advanced past the vote-ins with a lower position than PW3 at this time (9.42%) were Lightning (fourth place, 9.41%) and Falco (fourth place, 9.2%). It'll finish below Lightning at this rate, too. It (and especially L4D2) really need charmander's idea of SB taking the top four of each poll and the best-looking fifth-placers instead of just taking the games with the highest percentages regardless of placement.

Phoenix Wright has been going down in percentage for the entire poll. Phoenix Wright reached an all time high of a 493 vote lead on L4D2 at 12:34 PM. Phoenix Wright's lead is down to 299, but I think it can hold on for the rest of the match. L4D2 is getting the ASV here.

I really think this batch of vote-ins will be mostly weaklings, so PW3 should be fine as long as it holds onto third or fourth place.

I agree, the strength level of games is pretty low by the time you reach the fringe list. Plus we could potentially see strong PS/N64/GBC games due to people not knowing that they belong in last decade (Final Fantasy IX, Majora's Mask, Pokemon GSC)

I however don't feel that we'll see a handheld Zelda game, though they do have a chance at reaching the vote-in. The main reason is that there isn't really a handheld Zelda in which most fans will gather behind thus splitting the nominations. Link's Awakening was special because it was literally one of the few good games that held the Tetris fans till Pokemon. The DS is stacked compare to previous handheld devices while people see GBC games as something from the 90s so that leaves Minish Cap as the only Zelda handheld with the best chance IMO.

Yeah, seeing games like BG&E, Killer 7 and a couple I don't recognize, it does appear to be 128.... with that many games (meaning a lot of weaklings, as others have noted), the difficulty will be insane.

PW:T&T has 3rd place locked, I think!

I thought the vote-ins would increase vote totals so I took the vote total average for the month of September so farwhich ended up being 63052 votes so it seems like the poll will finish with little bit over 3k on average.

Not much movement, but it seems like the same was true for the last vote-in. Taking the same number of days before the first vote-in the average was 78334 besides the first one the rest fell near above or below the average so I guess the vote-ins don't increase vote totals.

Then again you'd be lucky to find voters that have played at least half the games listed.

I thought the vote-ins would increase vote totals so I took the vote total average for the month of September so farwhich ended up being 63052 votes so it seems like the poll will finish with little bit over 3k on average.

Vote totals have been sucking lately, even before the vote-ins started. The last time we had a poll over 80000 votes was for poll 3993. And this month alone, only 2 polls have gotten above 70000 votes. Out of the past 2 or 3 years, the past 2 months or so may be our worst extended period of time as far as average vote totals go.
