Just
because Snake was introduced to the Nintendo fanbase doesn't make him
solely a Nintendo character. He still gets the majority of his support
from the Playstation group. And plus, that match was screwy. There was a rally for Snake near the end of it to make sure he would overtake Sephy and win. --- Good Times, Great Memories |

Snake
has that one match with Samus where he looked weaker when paired with
Nintendo and a bunch of other matches where he looked just fine pair
with Nintendo. It was only three days later that Snake beat LFF's
Sephiroth with Link in the poll. The day before that, Mario was in the
poll as well and Snake still nearly beat LFF'd Sephiroth. --- Dr_Football punted my bracket across the field. Congrats to Dr_Football for winning the Character Battle 8 Guru Contest! |

that year was 4-ways, right? With so many different factors to consider
in those types of matches, it's kind of hard to prove or disprove that

I've
always considered Sonic and Mega Man (to a lesser extent and not MMX)
to be Nintendo-lite. They have their own fanbase but also spill into
Nintendo territory. So they would get that added strength of Nintendo
in matches against neutral fanbases (non-nintendo), but would lose that

But
regardless, Snake has a decent sample size against Nintendo since being
introduced to Brawl, and the only real anomalies we can find are Yoshi

And
most of the time when two characters are similar in strength, there is
very little noticeable SFF. The main exception being, of course,
Mario/Samus. But you can't find it in Luigi/Yoshi, Yoshi/Bowser, or Luigi/Bowser. You can't find it in Squall/Auron, Auron/Aerith, or Vincent/Squall. And you can't find any instances where Samus herself is on the dishing out end of SFF. --- http://img.imgcake.com/ultigardenpngba.png |

Managed to beat Cloud two times regardless! First time was somewhat legit because Seph was holding Cloud back much more then Kirby holding Snake back, and Snake boosted at the beginning of the next match for a while because of it. Snake > Cloud in that final was like one of our first cases of "upset factor" (mind is blank, whatever we're calling the L-Block run these days). that she won is what's confusing after she was embarrassed by Tifa a

It's possible that with how dominant Snake looked vs. how vulnerable Samus looked that it was Snake who got beaten around by upset fever. Or, you know, Tifa is legitimately really really strong (combined with ZSS hurting Samus), Zelda was a lot more powerful and higher on the Nintendo-chain in 2006 than in past years thanks to TP-hype (thus resisting and/or rSFFing Samus), and the gap between Samus and Sonic increased since 2004.
