was so wrong about Samus though. Between that match, her match against
Zelda the next round, and Mario/Samus 2005 I was convinced that she was

Samus Vs. Snake still strikes me as odd. Snake had a ton of underdog hype behind him, Samus did not have a bracket advantage, and he had the benefit of being the gender of 90%+ in a match that was supposed to be a Battle of the Sexes. Everyone was rooting for him. But he was never in it at all. The poll was glitching pretty bad for a couple of hours during his best time in the dead hours, but that wouldn't have been enough to do anything. And then he goes around and goes crazy in the 2008 final when there was no board hype behind him. --- "Ahem! I think the reason we thought Snake would beat Samus was that we kinda
assumed that Sonic, Crono, and Mega Man were all at 2005 levels, when

The
only supporting evidence is common sense. Introducing Snake to the
Nintendo fanbase will give him that extra strength to go on a rampage,
but he would lose that added strength when he went against a Nintendo
powerhouse like Samus or Mario. You can choose to believe that based on no proof other then the Samus/Snake match that year, or disbelieve it and saying that Samus was just legitimately stronger then Snake (and that Tifa/Samus was just an anomaly).
