What an interesting poll. For the last few days I have been leaving gaming for the evening due to exams, so I voted for that (well, I actually voted "overnight" because I misinterpreted that option, but I do stay up past 11 sometimes playing a game), but oftentimes if playing through a video game is my main entertainment activity I actually do a session off right in the morning. Plenty of time the rest of the day for work!

Wow, I'm unwarned already! Good thing the bracket hasn't come out yet! And probably a great thing I didn't get involved in that whole lover's quarrel a couple of days ago.

I'm actually an afternoon gamer these days, but that's because I work retail and they keep scheduling me to work evenings. The TV season being back won't help on that front, either.

I can tell you right now that most of the stats people would be gone/won't be seen as much. Might as well use the RNG to predict the bracket.

You might be right that some of the stats people will stop following these contests if game companies started rallying in our contests, but some people who came here as a result of the rallying will stick around on this site and be involved in the voting for future contests.

I disagree, while it will bring more people to the site I feel that in general people will care less about the contest. They may vote in it, but I doubt you'd see the same amount of passion for the contest that we have right now.

Rallying is fine and exciting, game companies doing it is a bit much though. Organic rallies by the fanbases themselves are fun, but if Valve links in tens of thousands of users in hours, it's just not very fun because the other side has no chance without their company counterrallying.

That's probably true. It's just not fun to watch a contest where all my favorite games lose and those I don't care for win. I mean, I can't really bring myself to have a rooting interest in something like Halo vs. World of Warcraft. It'd be like a Super Bowl between 2 teams I don't care about- it could be a little fun, but isn't going to cause massive emotional surges.

Not crazy about Square, love Nintendo...but I'm mainly just interested in seeing how the gaming communities work and evolve over time. I was hooked here ever since 2002 first announced this kind of contest, before I ever knew who would do well and who wouldn't.
