More like early-October if this is going to be a 2 month contest, because we need a few days for regular polls before we get the yearly Christmas poll, followed by another round of "Got Console?" polls, and then the GotY polls to start on January 1st.

All right, two weeks for nominations should be plenty.

As of right now, we only have 45429 nominations. This is the lowest amount of nominations we have had since it became possible to figure out the amount of nominations we are currently at. There were around 90000 nominations for the last Character Battle, and that had less nominations than the BGE 2009, and the 2008 Character Battle.

The poor nomination total for this contest seems like a sign that the casuals are less interested in the contests than ever before. It seems like the casuals are becoming less and less interested in the contests for each future contest.

I wonder how much closer we can approach the year-end deadline before Bacon pushes the contest back to mid-January. Assuming an identical format to the last CB (most of the board wants this, right?) and the standard month for predictions, we're getting pretty close already. Keep in mind that the 12-hour format takes a smidgen longer depending on how many 24-hour matches you want to have at the end. If a bracket isn't unveiled in the next week or so, I'll start bracing myself for weaksauce news.

Yeah, everything we see every year indicates that people aren't interested, and come contest time, everything's fine.

The fact that there's hardly any attention drawn to it on the front page probably doesn't help.

That's not going to happen if there will be Vote-In polls again for this contest. Even if the nominations are closed by the end of this week and there are Vote-In polls, the bracket would not be revealed within the next week (7 days).

Solid Snake was in MGS though, and that's probably made a longer-lasting impression than the DMC-series combined. It doesn't hurt that MGS4 was well-received, too -- from the way people are talking since Capcom's not making this DMC-game, it may not be so lucky.
