A = Strongest Character
B = Character Weaker than A
C = Character Weaker than B
To figure out a character's Xsts Percentage ---> [(CvB)(BvA)]/50 = CvA
To compare how C would do against B ---> [(CvA)/(BvA)]*50 = CvB
To figure out how B would do against A ---> [(CvA)/(CvB)]*50 = BvA

~*Say What? Common Stats Topic Lingo Defined*~

SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote. This is the best example of SFF we've ever seen. However take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make perfect sense.

Extrapolated Standings - The mathematical "strength" of a contestant that's determined based on their performance relative to the rest of the field. This number is typically based on the contest entrant's loss, but adjustments are sometimes made. See above for a watered down explanation for how the stats are calculated.

Noble Nine - Link, Cloud, Solid Snake, Sephiroth, Mario, Crono, Sonic, Samus and Mega Man.

What the hell, which game will win the most GotY's from gaming websites?

This year, the contenders gotta be Mass Effect 2, Red Dead Redemption, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and barring it bombing Fallout: New Vegas. I could see the first two doing the best, with ME2 coming out of nowhere to be a huge hit and RDR being a Rockstar title, which sites cream their pants over (lol GTA4 getting 10's) and probably being the most unique hit this year.

There's this, but it's hard to say anything definitive about it: http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=3477

ME did do about 5% worse against Halo 3 than their GotY-poll suggested, yeah. I'm not sure exactly what to think since ME was a distant last place, but FO3 may have affected ME there. Still, WRPGs are becoming bigger here and having a big JRPG in FF13 may make things a bit more difficult to analyze on that front. Nothing certain about WRPGs affecting each other yet though.....

LOL at today's poll. Right now, Canadians seem to prefer Physical Education, while it's doing terribly in the US.

Social Studies ended up taking the lead over Math in the last 5 seconds or so of the board vote. Math maintained a small lead over Social Studies for most of the board vote.

I'll agree with those who said that there's a big difference between high school and university level math. I didn't mind math in high school, but it was an absolute struggle to get through the requisite calc classes in my university. Since I was a biochem major, I of course chose science.

I ended up voting for Science, which seems to be easily #1 here. Oh well, I suppose it's inherent that gamers would enjoy science the most.

This poll was rather terribly timed for me. Right now I'm in India but really want to be in the United States and have even convinced my parents to move me back at the end of this year, and since I don't like school here I've simply began to take to the subjects which will matter most later in my life, meaning I'm studying hard for Math, Science, and English, while simply trying not to flop in other subjects that have tests and constantly bunking P.E. (which is no fun in India) and Art.

Bottom line: I don't care about school, but I do care about my studies and test scores. I even skip school quite often just so that I'm home.

I have a difficult time listening/digesting information from TV as opposed to, say, a classroom (ironically). (My parents say I should've been diagnosed with ADD, though it'd be a weird variation of it, maybe.) Hence, I can keep better attention on TV when it's close-captioned; otherwise I can't pay very close attention unless I'm REALLY in a movie mood (which rarely happens). I guess I find class much more interesting than movies. o_O

Yesterday's poll had an interesting distribution of votes for each part of the world. For yesterday's poll:

North America - 80.55%
South America - 1.65%
Europe - 12.58%
Asia - 2.57%
Oceania - 2.53%
Africa - 0.12%

The day matches from the last contest were averaging 81.28% for each match and here we have a 24 hour poll almost matching that right here. 75-76% is about normal for North America in 24 hour polls. The unusually high percentage of votes from North America yesterday could be because of the fact that driving is unpopular outside of North America. I had a feeling that might happen and it did.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=3404&region=NAM
http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=3404&region=SAM
http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=3404&region=EUR
http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=3404&region=ASI
http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=3404&region=OCE

Driving is unpopular outside of North America and public transportation is favored there instead.
