I
disagree, I feel that Dark Link will flop in terms of expectations of
his upper bounds. He could still be a midcard/low midcard. Though at

Personally,
I just like the idea of a Doppelganger. I know some want Dark Link
because he could be "Link, but darker" but I honestly feel he's cool
enough to merit inclusion by his own strengths. He's in the most
popular Zelda game, and in my opinion his fight in that game is the
most memorable. I've always wanted to see him have an expanded role in

Yeah,
people who think Dark Link would hang out with the N9 are vastly
overrating him. He'll be decent, but GameFAQs voters are smart enough
to vote for who they actually like rather than anything with the name

It's
just that Zelda fans are not that dumb, you can tell the difference
between Dark Link and Link. His name will get him over things with

Except
he is likable on his own, where a "piece of furniture from FF7" really
is not. A lot of people find Dark Link memorable, from OoT to Smash
Bros. Furniture (even something like Zolom) really cannot compare to

Also,
any chance we start nominating characters like "Acid!Snake" and "Dark
Samus" if Dark Link does well? Not sure if I would want that. But I
guess I'm worrying too much. Another question: If the contest accepts any pictures so long as they are 'official' (anime!pikachu for one) then could we technically get a Jonnhy Cage picture from the movie for him? --- Nominate Epona for the next Character Battle and have a carrot! Votals
exploding towards the end of 2002 is overrated. Mario/Cloud,
Crono/Snake, Link/Scorpion and Mario/Crono are the only matches that
seem inflated to me. Votals were super low because the competition was

There's a clear line of vote totals jumping starting with Link/Jill. It's not like we didn't have a few quality matches before then; Jill/Kirby, Crono/Dante, Solid Snake/Knuckles, Sonic/Tidus and Samus/Ryu and they're all quite a lot lower than the 80k+ that we saw. --- Calintares made a whole lot of geolocation x-stats Congrats to Dr. Football for winning the Guru. |

100,000 against each other would be out of the question. Vote totals don't quite work that way, yes the trend is that fodder opponents tend to get less votes, but at the same time there's a cap in that only so many voters will vote. Cloud/Pikachu slightly outdrew Cloud/Alucard despite Alucard being expected to almost double him or Sonic/Pitfall Harry outdrew Sonic/Tidus by 7k votes. The LFF between the three Blizzard series is hilarious. Though I'd still be a bit wary picking any one of them over CoD in a series contest, just because of how unimpressive Warcraft was against Super Mario Bros (which, granted, was freaking Super Mario Bros). --- Wylvane _Panuru_ is a horrible user. |

Starcraft
is ahead of Diablo now. I suspect Starcraft and Warcraft will remain
fairly close in percentage throughout the day, since this isn't exactly
a big WoW fanbase site (despite the game always being on the top 10

Who
knows. Warcraft beat GTA, and I'll consider "respect voting" more for
series than any other medium. I doubt CoD would have much of dat

Yeah,
Blizzard-LFF is pretty major here. Still, I'm not sure any of them beat
CoD at this rate even if you drop the other Blizzard-games. Also, CoD's probably in the running for having the most games and it's done relatively well pretty consistantly. I'm
still surprised at what a force CoD has become here. I mean, I actually
kinda foresaw CoD4 doing well during its GotY poll, though not that
well, but I never imagined it would spawn a GotY winner and become a
dominant series in GameFAQs. I mean, when you think of GameFAQs, one of the last things you think of as a popular series here is Call of Duty. It makes me wonder if there's any other series that's become popular in this gen that could beat it. CoD isn't that
big around here. Its strongest entry is weaker than Fallout 3, and MW2
didn't do very well in that Game of the Decade poll considering it had
a ton of SFF advantage. It wouldn't beat any of the three Blizzard

I didn't think Starcraft 2 would be a strong GOTY contender. I don't
really think Galaxy 2 will be either. The Galaxy games just...aren't
popular here. I'd be kinda surprised if FFXIII didn't win at this

thinking Starcraft 2 is no longer even guaranteed best PC game if it
can't even beat Warcraft after Starcraft 2 release. If it can't beat it
now, I don't see how Starcraft 2 has a good shot of beating Cataclysm

yeah
MW2 would beat FF12. FF13 seems to have a slightly better public
perception with less sales. that probably means FF13 is stronger

stuff does well in series/GotY stuff, but come contest time don't

think part of the problem FFXII has is the same problem FFIX had:
Released way too late in the console lifespan. FFXIII has the advantage

thought that too, but FF has withered since FF10 came out. it doesn't
have close to the brand name power that it used to and the sales are

It's
sad to think that 2007 and 2010 are weak years for this site, when they
(at least the former) are usually regarded as strong years for video
gaming, and I'd have to agree with the latter. |
