Unless Vader brings in some buzz, they'll probably be getting fewer votes than last year (Seph, Ganon, and Bowser as your draws versus Link, Mario, and Snake... not favorable). As you said, HaRR, if the first round is once again a week and if Seph's opponent might appeal to 4chan, I might pull the trigger right there.

Remember, Chief had 80% on Bub&Bob before 4chan got started.

I voted for the Pac, but goddamn, the only way this could look worse for Namco characters would be if you separated Tales and Symphonia and Symphonia was still breaking 20%.

...I honestly think Symphonia might legit be able to break 20% on this poll. There's only so much the other Tales games can be worth with how few votes non-ToS Tales characters get.

Mana series would bomb. After Legend, the series has become one huge ****ing joke, which is a shame.

Also, **** the haters, Just Cause 2 is awesome. At least, the demo is. Still waiting for the game to drop to $20 before I get it. Fun as hell sandbox game.

As for why it's on there and not Tomb Raider, it's probably because Just Cause came about after Square-Enix acquired Eidos.

Second one did... first one came out at least a year or two before they aquired Eidos. Though Tomb Raider not having any official games under the Square Enix label yet (unless that Tomb Raider for XBLA has already come out.. not sure when that was gonna come out) is probably the main reason.

Well, I think the wording of the poll is pretty important. I don't know why Bacon put "Chrono Trigger" instead of just "Chrono" for the poll option. Kinda weird.

Final Fantasy also has some weird trends already. Normally it's supposed to go up in percentage after the board vote, but it was going down after the board vote. Final Fantasy had exactly 50% at the board vote. It reached a low of 47.99% at 12:35 AM before going back up again. From what I've noticed, trends displayed by games/characters in the contests usually remain the same even if there are regular non-contest polls featuring the same games/characters that have been in past contests.

I'm not entirely sure why we think a Nintendo-poll will come tomorrow -- so far, these company-polls have been in alphabetical order. A Nintendo-poll should have come today after Namco's. That said, should there be one tomorrow, here is the last one we had (from 2001):

LoZ broke 50% there, but it surely wouldn't anymore. Pokemon's stock has risen tons since then, I don't think FE has a single American release at the time of that poll, Metroid's probably improved since Metroid Prime came around while Other M is about to come out, and it's missing other big series like Mario Kart (maybe separate Mario Sports, too), Super Smash Bros., and Wii Sports...or heck, just make a Wii-series to cover the rest of those games. Don't get me wrong, LoZ remains unstoppable by a large degree...but if it broke 50% in a Nintendo-poll that really represented all of its biggest series, holy ****. Given how SMB3 has weakened a lot and the SMG/NSMB-games haven't exactly caught fire here, I wonder if Pokemon or SSB could upset Super Mario while Mario Kart's in the poll nowadays. Likely not, but we've seen weird things from Nintendo-polls before (hello, Yoshi > Mario).


Also, I'm not shocked at KH beating Chrono here. I'm surprised it's leading by such a large degree in the middle of the night like this though. I hope Luster's keeping trends, because the day-vote here could be fun with or without a real ASV.

Three games the newest of which came out 12 years ago (as of the Games Contest), and Kingdom Hearts? I'd give Kingdom Hearts a serious thought there, although I'd probably take Trigger out of fear after how bad KH in general looked last character battle, meaning Kingdom Hearts wins decisively.

For what it's worth, the FFVII poll from way back when is actually pretty accurate of how the relation of the characters have been so far, except Tifa's way closer (if not above) Vincent than Aeris/Cid (whose relation was also just about accurate). I think Square just lacks the 'welp, he's an icon!' votes that lead to Mario/Sonic both being way above the others 1-on-1 but still losing when you toss the entire batch in there.

FFX standing out in polls where half of the options are Nintendo? Time to discredit every multi-option poll ever ever.

Valid points with the Mario-polls and Sonic-poll, but we've been reasonably suspicious of them from the beginning. What's so suspicious about KH hanging with CT in today's poll? KH wasn't far behind FFX and KH2 nearly beat RE4, plus there are spin-offs on Nintendo handhelds to help stand out a bit. Given how many times we've seen CT embarrass itself in recent years (as far as comparing it to its former glory, anyway) and how we've seen CT resist SFF from FF multiple times while KH may be the most susceptible to FF-SFF...

...you sure a KH-game couldn't get close to CT? CT's almost certainly not a top-ten game here anymore while one or maybe both KH-games can argue their ways into the top fifteen, and how many discussions have we had about how close together the #3-#15 games are? It'd be close with a chance at an upset, and age isn't making it any less likely.

If we had every RPG series ever in one poll here, I'd have no trouble picking FF > Pokemon > KH > Chrono. After that, it'd be one of the Western series, my guess being Elder Scrolls as it has two semi-popular games here compared to other series only having one big game.
