Seems like any Marvel/DC character is going to have a decent ASV, even with Canada dragging them down.

Not really, Marvel and DC teaming up together is just barely defeating Final Fantasy.

To be fair, isn't Final Fantasy the series even more powerful than Link still? If so that means guys like Batman could hit the lower and middle rungs of the Noble Nine easily.

Again, Marvel and DC together probably isn't that much different than they would individually. People who read comics tend to read both and like heroes from both factions.

Plus, trying to downplay the fact that it's beating FF is pretty silly.

This. Comic geeks may argue that one publication sucks and another doesn't, but almost all of them read stuff from both.

This is who would make a better fighting poll, Final Fantasy is in an obvious disadvantage, especially consider that both Marvel and DC have been in fighting game and a fighting game featuring both companies is something that fans want.

It's like people saying that Sonic is looking good relative to Cloud in that who do you think will be in SSBB poll.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=2762

I say it's more impressive that Final Fantasy is actually winning over things like Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat.

And that poll proves that you can't take too much from this poll, other than that 25% of people at least would want a game full of comic book superheroes.

Which means we need a fictional characters contest!

I'm just saying that I don't want to see this poll brought up in defense that the best from those companies would go toe for toe against the best from Final Fantasy. This poll means nothing

Also since when has Metroid/Castlevania have a rivalry?

Amusing to see how it's almost only the U.S that gives any support to the comics. Just goes to show that the american comic book market is way different than anywhere else (sadly)

of course, the US is also the country that cares the least about JRPGs, so it's par for the course for FF and Tales to do worse there.

Final Fantasy is weaker than Zelda (or at least was in 2006.....I doubt it's flipped since then, though I guess it's not out of the range of possibility). If FF and Zelda are stronger than Link, Marvel and DC should be stronger than their strongest characters too.

I'm just saying that I don't want to see this poll brought up in defense that the best from those companies would go toe for toe against the best from Final Fantasy. This poll means nothing

Of course, it doesn't say anything about how Snake/Batman would go, but it just says that plenty of people are interested in non-gaming origin fictional characters, and they can possibly do well here.

Also since when has Metroid/Castlevania have a rivalry?

since the term "metroidvania" was conied, and people started arguing about which is better: Super Metroid or Castlevania SOTN.

Such a crossover would never work though, since Metroid has way to few characters.

the fact that only 24% of the site gives a damn about comics + losing to FF/Tales, which would be a horribad versus game if it was ever made doesn't give a ringing endorsement to comics here.

Huh, Final Fantasy vs. Tales is still ahead. Looks like Marvel vs. DC made up very little ground with the ASV. Well, it's not altogether surprising considering you'd think the comic book crowd is older than average on Gamefaqs, but FF and Tales have pretty bad day votes, so......

Behold the power of Link's ASV, Batman!

Agreed, but Google's never really advertised that I know of outside of its beginning and one commercial this Superbowl (which was better than any Big/Yahoo-commercial I can remember). Marketing could make you believe Google's having a tougher time than it did five years ago, but this poll suggests otherwise.

Then again, I don't know how easily swayed the GameFAQs community could be on search engines...but whatever, this poll suggests they can't!

About 15 minutes left until the internet connection poll. Time to see what states have the highest percentage of dial-up users. Probably the states with a low population density (those would be the more rural states). I predict the US to have the highest percentage of dial-up users out of any country, because the large size of the country makes it more difficult to ensure that broadband access is available everywhere in the country.

But also, I'm interested in seeing whether or not cable internet is mostly a US/Canada thing. Because I have a good feeling that DSL will be the dominant form of internet access outside the US/Canada.

Maybe out of the eight listed countries (even then maybe not), but I bet dial-up users will win in a bunch of countries.

Except those countries would contribute very few votes (under 10 or so) overall, making it easy for an option like dial-up to win in one of those countries.

Dial-up took a big hit since last time:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=2290

LOL dial-up. I managed to steal the first vote for dial-up and first vote overall. I'm just hoping that dial-up is having a bad board vote due to dial-up users having a hard time voting in the first 5 minutes because of dial-up being flat out slow for them.

Ew, dial-up is collapsing after the board vote. I would have expected it to go up a little bit after the board vote.

But looking at Geolocation so far, DSL is winning Europe, Asia, and Oceania right now. Although that can change quite a bit since those 3 regions have very few votes right now. Cable is winning North America and South America.

Well, it's still possible to view the poll updates if you know the URL for each match. The final match of the last contest:

http://www.gamefaqscontests.com/drupal/node/22?matchnum=3856&num=2

To view the other matches, you'll have to change the "3856" in the URL. Matches for the last contest run from 3730 to 3856.

Yes, I think it was that. Not 56% like charmander said earlier.

Yet some people are stuck on dial-up because they have the unfortunate curse of living in a very small town (like under 2000 people) where dial-up is the only option available to them.

No clue if it's just a glitch with today's poll, because there were maps for yesterday's poll. I know polls similar to today's poll have had maps for them. Tomorrow's poll should only have 5 options instead of 10, so we'll see if there are maps for the next poll.
