Don't even kid yourself, HaRR! You know you'll be picking Chief in his rematch with Hayabusa next year like everyone else! --- "So cold. I am always by your side." "There ain't no gettin' off of this train we on!" |

But the hierarchy?!? --- Calintares made a whole lot of geolocation x-stats Congrats to Dr. Football for winning the Guru. |

It's even MORE important now that 360 ownership is lower! --- "Hold on a minute! That testimony stinks!" "Witness! You can't just say 'Hello' and expect us to get anywhere! I want you to testify!" |
HaRRicH | Posted 7/6/2010 1:56:52 PM | message detail |
I picked Hayabusa this year! Haha, he's not gonna overturn that here with Halo Reach or whatever else they've been releaseing since CoD got serious about leading the FPS-world. Or Sub-Zero, while we're at it! --- Nominate EPONA for Character Battle 9: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=8&topic=54225515 |

I
might pick Felix in a rematch out of pure bias and stubbornness. You
know, the same reason I take Crono to beat any opponent he has the
slightest chance of beating. --- Dr. Football was not stopped by any of us, and won the Guru Contest. |
red sox 777 | Posted 7/6/2010 8:56:26 PM | message detail |
I really want to see Master Chief vs. Magus though. It would
have the biggest day/night swing ever! I am quite serious when I say
that Master Chief could turn a 5000 vote lead with the ASV! --- Dr. Football was not stopped by any of us, and won the Guru Contest. |
LeonhartFour | Posted 7/6/2010 8:57:26 PM | message detail |
Eh, Magus's ASV isn't any worse than Frog's. --- "So cold. I am always by your side." "There ain't no gettin' off of this train we on!" |
red sox 777 | Posted 7/6/2010 8:59:09 PM | message detail |
Master
Chief could turn 5000 on Frog with the ASV too. He swung 3000 off a
2400 lead in 2004, with lower votals, and when CT's day vote was a lot
better than it is now. --- Dr. Football was not stopped by any of us, and won the Guru Contest. |
LeonhartFour | Posted 7/6/2010 9:03:34 PM | message detail |
In
a 12 hour match, Chief wouldn't do it. He probably wouldn't have that
much of a lead to overturn. I have my doubts about him being able to do
it in a 24 hour match, too. Frog's ASV has always been bad, and so has
Magus's. CT's and Crono's ASVs are the ones that used to be decent. I wouldn't put it past him, but people overblow Chief's ASV all the time. --- "That's crazy. I could never do something like that." "It's not a question of can or can't. There are some things in life you just do." |
red sox 777 | Posted 7/6/2010 9:10:51 PM | message detail |
The
change that occurs when the ASV hits is diluted to perhaps a quarter of
its strength in a 12 hour match. Now that I think about it though,
Chief's ASV was hurt by the same thing that hurt CT's ASV in 2006-
shifting the start time to 12 AM. Chief does very well in the first
couple of hours, which makes it harder for him to rise later, whereas
before, he was horrible from the start of the match all the way until
the ASV. I think 5000 is reasonable assuming 120,000 votes for the entire match, though. I suppose that's probably too high based on last contest, but it would have seemed normal in 2006. I'd be scared for Magus if he only had a 5000 lead at 3 PM. --- Dr. Football was not stopped by any of us, and won the Guru Contest. |

We
had the perfect fourpack of suck with Kefka/Magus, Master Chief/Shadow
until Kefka had the nerve to go out and perform decently this year. --- "The great GF...Bahamut." "...GF? I...? Using my powers...It is you humans...I fear..." |
Haste_2 | Posted 7/6/2010 9:22:54 PM | message detail |
Magus
was so unbelievably bad last contest, I might take MC in a 24-hour due
to my lack of faith in the zealous fellow. Even Frog seems more
competitive. Maybe Alucard is a bit stronger than I think, though. (58%
against someone who SHOULD excel in a 12-hour match...) You think Kefka
could beat Magus now, assuming similar pictures as in Winter '10? I didn't do much more than glance at each result in the last contest... --- "Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. It could be fun! So...what is a party?" "Well, you drink punch and eat CAKE! ...I think." |

LOLContests | Posted 7/6/2010 9:49:58 PM | message detail |
5,000
votes by MC would be a pretty big hurdle. Axel would have been able to
pull 4,000 against Frog if the match had been 1v1, and I don't know of
MC's Day Vote swing would be that much more. But I wouldn't put
anything past Magus at this point! --- "Ahem! There is *sand* on my *boot*!"--Kefka Dr. Football beat me, Yesmar in the 2010 Guru Contest! |

At
this point it's better not to count on the Chief unless he's against a
character infamous for bombing (e.g. Magus). So yeah I'd pick Cecil
> MC. On the other hand Kefka redeemed himself against a similar character, and World of Warcraft is likely stronger than Halo on this site, so Magus probably beats MC now. |
HaRRicH | Posted 7/8/2010 8:33:33 AM | message detail |
Kefka
had Dissidia to thank. Also, WoW didn't beat Halo 2 by much and I don't
know if barely beating the GTA-series is worth the 45% on the

Well,
I'd take Knuckles to beat Master Chief, and Cecil possibly could've won
that match against him this year if it had been a night match. But regardless, Chief, Magus, and Shadow are the three characters I will never pick to win a debatable match until they prove otherwise. Kefka was on that list, but...he proved otherwise. --- "Spoil it for me. I'm never going to play that game so I want to know if he's going to be another Auron or another Sin." - Soul about PW/Jecht |

Nah,
Cecil winning a night match was pretty likely, Knuckles only won the
day match 52-48. Now a 24-match, I agree, that would have been unlikely. --- Dr. Football was not stopped by any of us, and won the Guru Contest. |
LOLContests | Posted 7/8/2010 11:14:43 AM | message detail |
I never got why people said back during the last contest that Cecil and Zidane could have won 24 hour matches. Taking Cecil Vs. Knuckles for example, considering the fact that a large chunk of the people who would have voted in the first half voted in the second half, that means in a normal 24 hour match you have to believe that Cecil has around 55% at the 12 PM mark just to break even, and to be honest, I ind this a little hard to believe. --- "Ahem! Cecil being able to break 45% on Knuckles in a day match was hard to believe, too! I'm saying it's hard to believe that there would be such a huge discrepancy in the two halves of the match (especially when the first half still has the morning vote), not that Cecil wouldn't be able to pull out those figures. --- "Ahem! There is *sand* on my *boot*!"--Kefka Dr. Football beat me, Yesmar in the 2010 Guru Contest! |
LeonhartFour | Posted 7/8/2010 11:18:16 AM | message detail |
It
would have been possible since Cecil, Zidane, and Ike all have pretty
extreme trends. Cecil and Zidane are all night and no day. Ike is all
day and no night. Knuckles is a bit more balanced, though obviously
more day. But we're still talking about a 2500-3000 vote swing from day to night, which isn't easy for anyone. --- "Why must we always choose between certain death and probable death?" "I'm in an epic battle to the death, FIGURE IT OUT YOURSELF!" |

Don't
forget, if Missingno doesn't collapse overnight, and it most certainly
*was* a Missingno collapse, all of a sudden he's not bleeding a bunch
of votes in the early morning and around noon, because people are
bothering to rally since he's in a fight with a chance to win. --- http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh293/zukiraphaera/war-sig-1.png Beginning at 3rd level, a paladin of freedom is immune to compulsion effects. |
