Well, actually, SD was simply a remake of FE1. This new game appears to be a remake of FE3's second half.

Shadow Dragon was *not* a remake of FE3's first half, it was a new remake of FE1. Shadow Dragon doesn't include the particular changes FE3 made to FE1.

The FE announced yesterday is probably a remake solely of FE3.5. With the low amount of information we have so far it's somewhat difficult to tell, but what little we have does suggest that. And it's difficult to see them bother remaking the first half of FE3 when Shadow Dragon for the most part already covers the same maps and story material.

Did that suggestion used to be Filed at one point in time?

I think he's still got a suggestion from me Filed from years ago about redoing a bunch of those types of polls, but this was a recent suggestion just suggesting a Super Mario-poll. It was only Read as far as I know.

first, aww yeah to 900th topic. Good times for a good hobby.

second, New Fire Emblem will probably be a remake of the second part to FE3. That's the part that hasn't already been released for DS, and it wouldn't entirely make sense for them to include the first part because that's essentially (aside from minor differences) what happened in FEDS.

third, I think we're all missing the important thing here. Galaxy 2 is going to provide Yoshi with what is probably his biggest boost in his career, or at least since Yoshi's Island. Going into the net contest, everyone should be completely prepared for Yoshi > Auron, Yoshi > Squall, Yoshi > Tifa, Yoshi > Missingno, Yoshi > Charizard, Yoshi > Vincent, Yoshi > Crono and Yoshi > Cloud believe!

My Brawl bias aside, Yoshi hasn't been viable in that series since Smash 64.

How awesome is Yoshi in that game?

Yoshi is used throughout the game. I don't know how many levels he's used in since it's not out in Europe yet, but he seems to be used quite often in the game. He's more like his SMW/NSMBWii self in this game, and he has a power which he can use to float (I think).

Yoshi was barely in NSMBWii. I keep forgetting he's in the game, to be honest, because he's in so few levels.

In Galaxy 2, however, Yoshi is all over the place, and his power-ups are pretty fun to play with as well. So far, I've seen him used in a lot of neat and fun ways.

Plus there's a glitch with Yoshi where you can go very, very high (albeit very, very slowly).

I figured Peace Walker would be winning here, due to how pathetic the competition is. The vote totals here definitely represents that. Only 623 votes at the freeze, followed by an extra 483 votes on the second update. Not even 5000 votes after one hour.

To return to an earlier topic and annoy others...

I just found out about Official Nintendo Magazine's 50 Best Games of the Decade, Readers' Choice edition, and, uh, what I remember:

10) Okami
9) Metroid Prime Trilogy
8) Metroid Prime
7) Resident Evil 4
6) Pokemon GS
5) Zelda: Majora's Mask
4) Zelda: Twilight Princess
3) Zelda: The Wind Waker
2) SSB Brawl
1) Super Mario Galaxy

Also, Melee was #17. In something that gave me quite a laugh, SONIC ADVENTURE 2 BATTLE was ahead of Melee. Also, lol RE4, and whoa Brawl. Although the fact that Galaxy beat it out here (plus WW > TP/MM) definetely shows that different people voted here than at GameFAQs, I guess.

LMS becoming self-aware takes a tiny bit of fun out of his irrelevant lists. Just a tiny bit, though, since he still posts them.

But hey, it gives me an idea. Which major gaming website has the closest taste to GameFAQs? Obviously even the closest will be radically different (no way would Cloud be half as strong anywhere else as he is here), of course. Gamespot makes the most sense, and does have more characters in line with GameFAQs, like Link, Snake, Mario, and Samus, with a few outliers like Gordon Freeman (who, even unrallied, would still be incredibly strong, even if he couldn't beat the above besides maybe Samus).

We could always wax nostalgic about the Gamespot contest!

* A shame we missed out on Sonic vs Master Chief. That match could've gone either way and may have ended up the closest match in the contest after Snake/Freeman. Though it was funny to see 4chan smacked down in Round 3 when even they couldn't beat Samus's raw strength without resorting to blatant cheating.
* Though on the other hand, watching 4chan anti-vote Cloud was fantastic. Cloud went from over 90% on the most obscure character in the contest to struggling to double him, ending with over a tripling, then got a mere 52.2% against Little Mac before losing a close one against Kratos... who Mario broke 60% on.
* I still can't believe we actually had Guybrush vs Wander.
* I said it during the contest, and I still believe it now. Mario > Link on Gamespot, and I'll be sticking with that if Gamespot has another contest.
* Pac-Man ties Kirby and then beats Dante. Fantastic.

I also feel pretty confident with Link > Mario. Mario was only slightly gaining on Freeman after Steam cooled down after their initial rally while it seemed that Link was having a much easier time before Steam fully intervened.

I remember Cloud being at around 95% on him near the beginning of the match, before the anti-voting kicked in.

Obviously SSBB's popularity is closest to GameFAQs' among the readers of Official Nintendo Magazine, but the one game SSBB was below on that list was the same game SSBB SFFd a lot in the contest. Then there's Wind Waker and Metroid Prime way ahead of SSBM on that same list, and nobody cares about Tales of Symphonia.

What is Official Nintendo Magazine? Is that the same as Nintendo Power?

The GameSpot contest upset me because the two best matches -- Sonic/MC and Snake/Link -- were ruined because of rallying. That said, in hindsight, the contest was pretty fun. I smile looking at the x-stats seeing five of Gordon Freeman's six opponents to the championship look like the next strongest contestants in the bracket (only Bomberman's left behind, and he's still a respectable #22). Seeing Valve rally was a real treat, too...it was worth seeing once just to prove how powerful Steam could be to advertise.

Oh, and Link's still beating Mario there in my book. Mario would improve on him going from GameFAQs's ~35.5% (wow, that low?) to GameSpot; their matches suggested they're probably naturally closer than here and Mario killed Samus something like 7% worse there than here while Link let DK do better on him there than Yoshi did here, so I think there's a real shift in the Nintendo-hierarchy at GameSpot...but I also think Samus just isn't as strong there as she is here and those differences aren't enough to really put Mario over Link.

I'll call it a good job if Mario broke 45% on Link at Gamespot.
